Great kit, Tom. Mine came today. Thanks. I read the above, and understand that a 12v and G (1 and 2) run the Volt meter. Stealing the 12V from the temp gauge with the red #1 from what terminal on the temp gauge? I'd guess the one at the 3 o'clock position as the picture faces us. But guessing is not smart. Hahahaha! Also, where do you recommend attaching the other end of the ground wire (black; #2)? Finally, what is the purpose of the short black wire with the #3 and #4 eyelets? And, what connection points do you suggest? |
Re: Volt Gauge Conversion Kits
I think post no. 1 shows the wiring you are asking about.

The most important thing about this I need to stress is removing power to the circuit board for the amp gauge for those of you who still have there factory amp gauge in place. There are several ways to do it. You can fold back the circuit board like in my photo or cut it. I would also, if you have the cluster out, remove the #1 and the #12 wires from the cluster connector and tape them off, as well as remove the (2) 4 amp fuses under the hood. The volt gauge will work as long as it has battery voltage and a ground as shown in post one. How you get that power is up to you but piggy backing of the temp gauge is the easiest, cleanest way to do it. Please feel free to ask any questions as they come up. Take care, Tom |

Thank you very much for the purchase and the compliment. You have one of my favorite trucks on the forum here. Not to take away from others but your truck just has it going for me and I love the torque thrust D's on it. I am glad you like the kit. Take care, Tom |

weekend bump ;)
I am now offering overlays to convert the stock amp gauge face to a volt gauge face. They look more like how GM would have done it if they offered a volt gauge on our trucks. I will charge an additional $5.00 over the $65.00 kit price if anyone is interested. I have included some photos so you can see what these overlays look like installed. I have to give credit to another member for these overlays as they come from him. To respect his privacy, I will not disclose his name but do appreciate his offering to me. If he would like to be announced, that will be up to him. Thank you all who have purchased the conversion kits from me. Have a great weekend, Take care, Tom |

Re: Volt Gauge Conversion Kits
do you have any kits left with all pieces needed to convert to an ammeter to a volt setup? il be converting a dummy light truck to a cluster set up with tach
|
Re: Volt Gauge Conversion Kits

Yes I have everything you need for a volt gauge conversion. You have a full gauge tach cluster and want to replace the amp gauge with my volt gauge conversion, correct? You also have a choice of faces for the volt gauge. Factory amp gauge face, the 76+ gauge face or the overlay that looks like GM would have done it in 67-72, had they used volt gauges. There should be photos of all of the options in the thread. Let me know, Tom |
Re: Volt Gauge Conversion Kits
Yeah but this thread got huge. I dont want the newer style sticker. I'll keep the OE face.
What's my total? |
