What mirrors are these? Part number anyone??

Thanks

Put full size west coast mirrors on mine. Got a good deal on them. It looks like an elephant with big ears, but man, you can see back there. ;)

I bought the west coast jr mirrors. I don't like them sticking that far out though

I like the west coast jr. also. I bought the cheap ones on amazon for Larousse 20 each. There are a lot of complaints about the glass falling out but that is an easy fix with some caulk. I disassembled mine and sandblasted then powder coated them black satin.

My bad. Stupid spellcheck😂. It should have read “around”. I just looked up my order and they are FIT H3541. I paid $24 each but it looks like they are now $32. If you look at the reviews you will see most complaints are about the glass falling out because all that holds them in is a gasket. Its easy to pull the gasket and put some caulk on the backside of the glass and then stick it back in. Hope that helps.

I'm thinking a bullet style mirror may compliment the look of my grill and wheels.

Re: What side mirrors to use?

This is something I have been banging my head against a wall trying to decide on. I like the look of the larger round ones mounted to stock arm (the type with offset mounting bolt like shown in this thread) but I plan to use my truck to tow and want to be on safe side with a larger mirror.

Truck came with west coast style on it and I'm not a big fan of the look but they are certainly functional. Anyone ever use a type of extendable mirror? maybe one that isnt as large as west coast but slides straight out for "tow mode". I had thought about using a universal mirror meant for a box truck but they look pretty bulky and seem like they would be out of place with the shape of our trucks.

My truck had west coast mirrors on it. The left one kept folding in on the freeway and eventually rusted through at the bottom. I have this style mirror on my truck now. The right one will need a close up mirror added to it. The vibrate a lot also but you can at least see what is behind you.

Re: What side mirrors to use?

Bumping this back up to see more ideas, surely there are more people out there running non-stock mirrors on their trucks right?

Right now I'm Broke, Broken & Bored which isn't a fun combo so trying to figure out stuff like what mirrors to run gives me something to do lol.

saw this pic awhile ago, guy looks to be running mid 90's F150 mirrors and they are pretty decent looking but just not sure if they are really big enough for a truck that tows.

If I could find a set that look nice and are decent size for normal driving that they also make a set of slip on tow mirrors to fit that might work. ( the type that cover the entire original mirror not the universal ones that strap to mirror.)

Captainfab 10-24-2018 11:48 PM

Re: What side mirrors to use?

Those look like aftermarket mirrors that I have used before. It depends on just what you are towing.

Re: What side mirrors to use?

Between my father and I we have
5x8 equipment (lawn mower) trailer
7.5x18ft car trailer
8x18ft 10k deckover equipment trailer
7.5x16ft 14K dump trailer with side extensions
8x18ft enclosed car trailer
30ft camper (not sure on width)
Mainly the dump, enclosed and camper would NEED a set of larger mirrors but personally I like having them anytime I tow since I like to keep an eye on everything. I know that its going to be a form VS function balance to get what I would feel is a decent size mirror with out it looking out of place too badly. Who knows maybe I'll end up running the west coast's it came with if they are in decent shape (havent really looked since one is in a bucket of parts and I didnt plan to use them from day one)

Seems like just about every truck I find pics of on net to look at either has
1.stock round
2.stock style square
3.west coast JR.
4.aftermarket tiny round either in stockish area or up at top of window

Anyone know what type of mirrors are on the 65 in these pictures, or where they might be available?

The pictures are from an LMC Truck advert showcasing Pearl Harbor survivor Donald Stratton and his truck.

Re: What side mirrors to use?

The mirrors on the blue truck about will work decently with a trailer the same width ad the truck or less. The majority of the mirrors you find on the internet are chosen more for appearance rather than functionality, much less towing. I don't have a pic handy but you might consider the mirrors commonly found on square body trucks that have a head that measures about 7" x 9".

I had thought about them or the 94-97ish ram ones that are similar shape and size painted black but wasnt sure how they would look mounted since that area is so curved on our trucks.

I do have one pic of a truck with similar mirrors on it (might be exact ones) but cant zoom in enough to see how they are mounted without pic getting too fuzzy.

I did end up buying these on Ebay. Car mirrors are just too short. These are a bit bigger. They come with backer plates that go on the inside of the door so they are sturdy. This is the picture from the listing because my truck is still at the paint shop.

Search for Roberk car and truck mirrors on ebay.

Ive got something similar to this on my truck, open your vent window all the way before you drill for those - my PO didn't, and they now I can't open them all the way...

Re: What side mirrors to use?

Instead of mounting the original mirrors on a set of my stock arms that I shortened 2 inches. I installed a convex mirror that is usually used as an accessory mirror for a semi truck. It is slightly larger than the stock round mirror but gives me tons of visibility.

Your's are my favorite look, but now I want something more like a truck mirror that gives me more viewing area - especially from the passenger side.
These were what were on my 65 when I bought her back. I'm thinking of going back to them now that I'm pulling my boat often.

For a street cruiser that you don't need the mirrors much on, the stock type work well enough. With only one mounting arm, they vibrate enough to make it a challenge to use them at highway speeds.

I decided to change to a stock set of Jr. West Coast style mirrors, so they have two mounting points. They don't vibrate much at all, and give more viewing space. You do have to get used to looking around them when you're at stop lights or making turns. Made pulling and backing trailers much easier for me.

Re: What side mirrors to use?

Yep, the stock 1 arm on mine vibrate bad.

forestb 06-26-2022 08:42 PM

Re: What side mirrors to use?

I have a re-pop of the original with the round mirror and it doesn’t shake at all.
