The burb really isnt bad when the old bondo is removed and dents are removed the correct way, couple before and after shots, rockers are solid one small rust spot at the bottom of door, had to cut it out

Great looking burb, Can I get a little information on the rear tranny mount, Did you build it your self? And how do you plan to run the exhaust?

Re: 66 suburban aka the sub

thanks crx150zc the cross member is a classic performance unit I will measure the bend, you set the ends and you can weld them down or bolt them, then the two ends can be bolted to the frame, mine are bolted to the frame I will post a pick of some close up shots,my plan for the exhaust will run under the trans cross member and back, then I will run them up behind the rear cross member into some mufflers and dump in front of the rear end.but im looking for suggestions

Re: 66 suburban aka the sub

Thanks Rock Tonka your Burb is so cool love what you and your son have been doing on your rig,I got my 69 c10 back from paint may 2011,took him a while witch it usually does,But I swear I started trying to get the painter lined up on the burb back in march when I bought it and he was busy so I waited because he said August, then Sept, then October 6 was the date, now he is really moving at a nice speed, and sending me a lot of picks,so ill post more as they come in,I actually bought some fenders and a grill surround to deliver to him.bought them at tuckers trucks in Henderson nv.

Re: 66 suburban aka the sub

Thanks gostranger painter usually goes slower,he usually hates some of of my projects IMPALAS, and tells me no more trucks, but I think he likes this one or hates it LOL.Said he was gonna strip the roof and start sealing,he has been stripping the inside,I told him I wanted all the holes in the fire wall welded up and the high up put in.

Why does everyone have to mention the "roof" as being soooo big.. I mean--if we tell ourselves that it's small--then it's small. But, if there's the voice of reason in the room sayin it's big--it's depressing!!! :-)
Luckily--aside from the forehead of the roof on mine--it's nice and smooth.. thankfully..

Re: 66 suburban aka the sub

Thanks guys im gonna have to lean on the side of huge and depressing so im told.previous owner decided on a roof rack then removed it but decided to bondo over the holes, body guy has repaired the holes and stripped most of the roof for now will post the progress soon.

Re: 66 suburban aka the sub

hi gostranger my friend out in california owns a tri five and impala restoration shop in elmonte ca called the chevy shop we have been friend for a really long time to have the mouldings straightened and anodized was pricey it was 300.00, but i traded some impala parts for them to be redone, ill try and find out the shop he uses.the mouldings were pricey as well 180.00 but ive seen them much higher

Re: 66 suburban aka the sub

Looks great so far, I did have a quick question, the jeep tank seems to be a good fit and size I want to use in my 66 c10 build, did you use the chevy fuel pump assembly or the jeeps, I am trying to build on a budget and want to find a small tank that fits in the frame and will use the chevy pump and sending unit I all ready have.

You bought the custom trim for 180? if so I think that is cheap mine wasn't bad price wise when I got it but it was in rough shape so I am in the process of sanding and buffing it. Thanks for the info!

Re: 66 suburban aka the sub

hi crx150zc the tank and pump and tank are both jeep, but im sure some chevy fuel injection pumps are the same size, but the stock chevy sender will not work.the pump size is 3-1/2 i dont know the pressure output on the jeep pump, but im not that concerned about it i work for ford and we have plenty of pump motors that will push enough pressure to run the chevy engine,if you need more pictures or have any questions just yell thanks,by the way the jeep tanks are cheap and ebay has them
