Once again - just wow. Your fabrication skills, and overall style of just making things work...is amazing.
Truley inspiring to the rest of us, and makes just about any task at hand seem manageable. Thank you for doing this, and keeping us updated. Haha, it's *****in', mang. -Sam. |
Re: '66 Sunbeam Minx Project - F20C/6sp/4-link/Discs...
Thanks guys. Yes I can't wait to drive it. This was initially just going to be an engine swap... and ...well ...I should have known better  So all my efforts are focused on getting it back on the road right now.
I just dropped off two of the wheels to be straigtened (had bent lips). Then they will be wrapped in rubber this weekend: Yoko S.Drive's |

Been really busy over the last two weeks with work and school so I've had no shop time. I did manage to get two wheels repaired (had bent lips), and new tires mounted. First pic is the worst of the two wheels. Both are now as good as new. I cannot find any sign of it.
The tires are yoko s-drive 235/40/17 all 4. I'm attaching these since my photobucket bandwidth limit has exceeded for this month (resets on the 21st). |
Re: '66 Sunbeam Minx Project - F20C/6sp/4-link/Discs...

Re: '66 Sunbeam Minx Project - F20C/6sp/4-link/Discs...
This is the coolest, most original project that I've seen in a long time. It is mind blowing how well thought out and engineered your projects are. 100 points for taking the road less traveled. You are going to love those S-Drives. I just put a set on my Camaro and they are excellent.

I got a couple things done today. Painted the radiator brackets (I'll show them installed soon). I cut out the PS rear WW for the nano-tub. And, I had to see how those new road grippers looked on there. I still need to clean/polish the wheels... |

Wow i can't believe your projects they are so, well done. Your tahoe is what pushed me over the edge in wanting a 67-72 in the first place(I always wanted one I went and bought one after seeing the tahoe), and now this.

Re: '66 Sunbeam Minx Project - F20C/6sp/4-link/Discs...

Re: '66 Sunbeam Minx Project - F20C/6sp/4-link/Discs...
hey mike,
i found a way around the bandwidth exceed from Photobucket. open another account using a different email address like a yahoo or something. then you can double up the posts and not worry about exceeding your limit. i know your photo archive on Photobucket is HUGE so that might help splitting the difference in 2 places? if you look at some of the pics i posted they come from 2 different photobucket accounts. i think im gonna post my nova's build up too. that way i can test the limits of the bandwidth too :D -JV |

Re: '66 Sunbeam Minx Project - F20C/6sp/4-link/Discs...
You will not believe this, I drive by one of these every week or so. It is tan with a maroon roof and is a Hillman Minx. Looks almost identical to your body.
Nobody in a million years would consider the swap you are doing. Great work! That is going to be very cool as a finished project. My talent would have restricted me to a little Ford or GM V6, upgrade the rear axle and hope for the best with the front end. You are in a league of your own, my hat is off to you. That rear axle is equivalent to putting a 14 bolt in your Tahoe, it will never break. |
Re: '66 Sunbeam Minx Project - F20C/6sp/4-link/Discs...
Nice car, Fry!
Thanks for postin pix from your hard drive! |
