Re: Any van love?
My van the day I picked it up... Super Rapey... The man that sold it to me actually said this... "You can do lines on that counter top if you want." After purchasing this van I called the police to ask if they would do a "courtesy drug search" in a vehicle I had purchased... The said no. WTF?

Re: Any van love?
Here's one I sold last year. I still kick myself for selling it. I had it for several years. It belonged to an old couple, I put 8" rallyes on it, a good stereo, and a tv. That's my lake trailer, whenever things got a little crowded with all the family down, I'd get me a cold one, and me and the dog would retire to the "Rollin Ramada"

Did you guys see this one on Ebay? WOW, me want! This thing is a virgin if I’ve ever seen one. 2,700 original miles. That is right! 2,700!

Re: Any van love?
I also have a 1990 GMC Vandura upfitted by Explorer. My dad bought it new in 1990 when I was still in HS. I lost my dad last summer and inherited the van. It has 270,000 miles and the TBI 5.7L is getting pretty tired but the van is in great shape but could use a lower control arm bushings and a paint job due to the typical paint delamination that plagued so many vehicles of the late 80’s and early 90’s.
I also bought a damn near identical wrecked low mileage 1990 G-van a few years ago for parts. Here is the story on that and what I did with the goodies pirated from the van. Here is my dad’s van that I inherited. This picture was taken a few years ago when I still had the other wrecked van. They look almost like twins. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3064/...0b44f415_b.jpg |

Re: Any van love?
I had a '78 Chevy "Caravan" for a while, I loved it. I painted it black on bottom, gray on top and a red stripe along the middle. 350/350, posi rear, chrome Atlas wheels, swivel buckets, dual sunroofs, rear couch/bed, chrome bumpers and grill trim... it was sweet. Really wish I still had it.

Back in the 60s and 70s over spray on hoses and looms were common, as there was no machine to paint it so things weren't perfect. As for the oil leak, if it's only got 2,700 original miles on it, then it hasn't been run much which means that the seals deteriorated. Especially with oil gaskets, the oil keeps it wet, if it rarely ran then oil never kept it wet and it dried out. |

Re: Any van love?
I love that van! I would just change the side pipes to some normal pipes. The skulls just doesn't work for me, a little to juvenillle IMO.
And yes a 2-4 drop would be perfect. |

Re: Any van love?
SUPER RAPEY
LOLx10 |
Re: Any van love?
^^Yeah  even if you don't name custom vans like that yourself someone else seems too. My Safari had been dubbed (by my buddies) "Free Candy".

Re: Any van love?
I love 60's and 70's vans and they're really easy to make cool. I agree with the earlier poster though, if it doesn't have round headlights it's not a REAL van.
|
Re: Any van love?
i dislike the term "rape" van. no one buys a van with the intent of rape. if i had one i woud lower it a little, make a murphy style bed for the back and maybe hang a nice painting in the wall, to make it feel more like home ha.
|
Re: Any van love?
I'd love to get an older Chevy swb van with round headlights. I'd pimp it out, get a bed and a sound system hooked up, and I'd get a little TV and my Xbox 360 out in there. It would be my home away from home lol.

Re: Any van love?
I had your vans brother when I was working in Norway. I jack knifed it badly hauling a cherrypicker from our worksite during winter. It was like geting a tank slapper on a motor bike, once it started to wobble there was nothing to do but hang on for dear life. Lucky for me it was late night and little traffic. Skidded trough 4 lanes and ended up in the barrier. The frame was bendt so the insurance company totaled it. I got a 1999 Starcraft after that, It was a nice upgrade comfort wise :-)
