1972 K-30, belonged to a friend of mine, I almost bought it from him back around 1997 when this picture was taken. It had Cheyenne 30 emblems on it, is it possible? a K-30 Cheyenne Super?

could be a cab swap if the VIN has a 3 in it to a K20 frame, or it's simply 30 emblems on a 20. I'm obviously not an expert (considering the title of this post, by me) but I've been subsequently schooled that there is no such animal, i.e K and 30...

Regardless, that is an absolutely beautiful truck. Made my day!

Here is my project. Shes not much now.. but hopefully will within a year.

Plans - Tilt, Tach, Air, 40 gal burb tank to feed the 396, and fresh paint.. have a cab to swap onto it. still not decided on orange/white or blue/white... im starting to lean more towards orange..Even more now after the pic of 72KAY20's truck!

I'd have to see it to know just what he did,but that would be a "built" K/30,not factory. First of all,GM didn't make a 127" WB 1t frame. It it was factory it would be a Longhorn. I had a friend in Idaho years ago who had a Longhorn 4wd that I thought was factory till I knew better. The early Dana 60 front axles did use Spicer lockouts. I'd love to find a set for the Dana 60 going under my K2500. That Highlander was going to get the K/30 (axle) treatment that the Sierra is getting. I had Custom/30 emblems for it. Now I have Custom Camper 3500 or another 3500 fender emblem with nothing else on it...both N.O.S.,for the Sierra.

This has been my farm workhorse for over 20 years. I just bought a new Silverado 2500HD and I still felt much more comfortable in my 72 GMC to get me through the worst storm this winter here. It got me through a blizzard to and from work in the middle of the night and over 100 miles of closed highway and interstate without a hickup. Drove around many suvs and cars stranded in the middle of the road.

I love that GMC and HOTFUN's as well! i want another GMC!

Gm dana 60s never had external hubs. they were always been internal. they did have spicer hubs, but they look nothing like the ones on the K20 D44s. early dodge dana 60s 76-89ish had a large external hub, but never a style of lockout that is like the K20 that i am aware of. i had a set of the GM D60f spicers on my GM 60 i swapped for the 78-79 RC60 in my green truck now.

the blue and white truck has a D44 front. i'm betting it had badges swapped to say "30"

3 trips across the US with this guy - Blackie!!!! Starting the resurrection this spring, Youngest son soft rolled it in 2009. Finally got every thing either NOS or perfect OE for the rebuild! Can't wait to get started!

Ol Blue - very interesting! has some cheyenne super bells and whistles, but badged as a Custom D. Nice truck. Hope your face came out better than the steering wheel... That was god's way of telling you it's time to install a factory blue wheel.

Jocko, been lookin' for one or even a padded blue one from a car LOL, yeah I've put some Cheyenne wood grain I had on the dash. Woodgrain outside trim is factory

Previous owner had it done in the 1980's. It fits in really nice and works well.
Uses the original SBC mounts.

The pictures make it look a lot nicer than it is. I had just buffed the whole thing with Meguire's Car Show Glaze when I took the pictures, so it makes it look pretty decent. The paint is showing its age in person, and there's a little bit of rust repair to do. It's in great shape mechanically though. Has a very low mileage Jasper 383 that runs like a scalded cat! I'm thinking of selling or trading one of my two trucks for a Blazer, and even though I just got the C10 back from paint, I don't think I can part with Angus. :)

Regardless I do like that truck, has a lot less patina than mine. Gotta luv em though, I had a couple of Blazers, I prefer the truck more now cause the kids are grown.
