That's movin', it would probably have been close to that if it wasn't for the 3" of grease incasing the whole motor. Wish I'd taken a pic, dang thing looked like it was salvaged from the titanic covered in barnacles.

Picked up a tailgate and front bed panel off CL for cheap. They need a little work but they're better than what I got now which is no tailgate and a rotted front panel. Nothing a little hammer and dolly won't fix. The price was right.

Why I ask is because I just recently bought some replacements from AutoZone, http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...ier=80248_0_0_ I got this info from a board member on here. I know it's not OEM but cheaper than what LMC is selling. Just a FYI.

Yep replacing it all, the whole ac/heater system will all be brand new from the switches to the vents. Thanks for the information, I just bought the whole LMC pacakge already so its to late for me but hope others take note maybe it will help them!!

Tomorrow going to put a new trans pan gasket and filter and a new tailshaft seal to try to stop a nuissance tranny leak I have had. Been a busy weekend for me!!

Holding my breath, tranny leak possibly stemmed lol!!:metal:

I will do it, I actually was going to go with all stock A/C system but I am thinking I might go with vintage air for it but either way I will try to post pics of the installation. I am thinking I might have some used OE stuff out of my truck if I do go with Vintage air though lol bought all the seal stuff and such already!!

Getting ready to do a short bed conversion so with the bed and rear cross member already out it was time to get everything leveled up. I put the truck up on blocks under the front cross member (can't have to many blocks of wood around) and and jack stands just in front of the rear cab mounts. Leveled it with a clear tube of water and then up front tack welded rebar uprights to the bumper brackets. Under the rear of the cab I shimmed the jack stands so everything is true and level. Next I'll do some plumb lines, then I should be ready to starting cutting.

As much as I want a bigger shop my little one with a low ceiling gets above 70 degrees real easy with a wood stove. When I do have a bigger shop some day I will miss the little in the winters.

Went to another junkyard and found an oem air cleaner and 8 lug wheels (white 16x 6.5) and hubcaps from a 72 suburban. After I left, I got my truck and put the wheels on to see if they would fit. They did like a glove. However the hubcaps...not even close on the rear. It didnt even cross my mind that the axles might be different. I found only 1 hubcap from 69 that fit my 3/4 ton. I found tons of 1/2 ton and later hubcaps. One down three to go...

Thanks Ole. It just seems to take some time & money to get these to where you can enjoy driving them. Next plan of attack will be installing the new dash, which means I've got to remove the radio, gauge cluster & glovebox liner. That will be a fun time. :chevy:

Got my Gas door made & installed in my bed. Because my wood is not in the greatest shape, I made this unit in pieces. When I replace the wood I will make a 1 piece sheet metal drop in. What nice about this system is that you can see your gas level by just taking off the cap, also very easy to fill with no back splash.

It was in the truck when I got it, Stainless tank with a side angle fill Which I didn't Like. I have looked on line & can't find the maker, might be a custom. Stainless is very hard to work with when drilling & hole saw. Tank is 10 inches deep & holds 20 gallons.

I have a LWB that I'm converting to a SWB. The inside of my box is rusted around the bottom so I'm going to raise the floor "3 to have good metal to attach the floor to. It wont be a true Z'd frame but will get the similar result by overlapping the frame splice by the 3". Another benefit will be all my mounting points for the springs, shocks, & panhard get moved up 3".

Sure looks like a weird way to drop a truck down... Good luck... can't wait to see how you do the mounting points on this... Dan

It only makes sense to do it this way if are doing a LWB to SWB conversion and want to go lower than mild notch allows. I have a bolt in notch that is designed to fit under the floor that is probably 3.5" deep. This way that 3.5" of extra clearance just became 6.5" of extra clearance over the axle with out cutting the frame into three pieces the way I would need to if I was shorting the frame and doing a notch all the way through the frame. And now all my rear suspension mounting points are moved up 3". Effectively I'm just Z'ing a short bed frame but the frame over laps because I started with a long bed and will be a stronger splice this way too.
Having the lower 2" of inner bed sides rusted through and wanting to go lower that the stock floor would allow is what's behind doing it this way.

It's not to lower it just 3", it is to have 3" head start to going much lower while shorting it.
