Yes sir and you’re correct, the stabbin’ sucked. But I had enough foresight to keep the blood under control‘ish.

Got home this evening and had a little bit of time to tinker. I got the front dash speakers mounted and did a quick test fit of the new dash. I gotta say, Cheyenne gets an A+ for fitment!!! It looks like it came in there! Now, I haven’t finalized the install of it because I want to do some additional cleaning up under the dash and some areas are more accessible from up top, so these pictures are of it just sitting in place. No weird bows, sticking out areas or misaligned areas even this way.

After pulling the dash one more time for some additional access behind the dash for radio wiring it’s now back in for good. I also got the new ACC carpet installed and it looks fantastic. I’ll get the rest of the interior panels in this morning and then I’m just waiting on the seat cover. But I really want to replace that stock steering wheel...may have to add it to the list.

I got a steering wheel ordered this morning after getting the yard work done (before it gets any hotter out).

Carter..trucks looking real good..nice interior parts...I recovered my seat...it was alot easier than I expected..your.(beatup) dash looked 100times better than mine did...which is odd..my truck lived nearly its whole life indoors...I cheaped out and used a coverlay dash cover on mine..

Thanks Greg! The original dash pad was pretty hammered in real life between the cracks and the waves. That’s why I just bought this full replacement. Cheyenne had a great reputation and I see why after seeing this piece. The ACC carpet fit like a champ too. I’m going to finish cleaning the interior panels, pull the door panels to clean them & install the new door carpet panels. Then I’ll be waiting on the seat cover...

Interior looks great, you sold me on a cheyenne pick up parts dash! Haha. Think I'll order a couple on Tuesday

I can’t say anything bad about the dash. I tried one of the OER urethane (or whatever they are) ones on another truck and just wasn’t ever pleased with it.

TKCR 05-26-2019 10:39 AM

Re: 1987 R10...aka Belushi

Those urethane dashes will warp. There are only 2 places that I know that have metal frame dashes, Cheyenne & USA1 Industries. I have heard good things about both dashes.
I saw a guys URETHANE dash that was less than a year old. It looked like sh!t, it was warped/wavy. It was nasty looking

Yep, that’s what my experience was too.

I’m plugging along on the d/s door panel. Got it taken off and taken all apart. I’ve cleaned the panel itself up and it looks pretty good, but the upper metal trim and the velour inset piece looks like poop so I sourced new ones.

The replacement carpet lower panel looks much better than the original ones!

Wow those old ones were dirty. Those do look a lot better. I like the wheels too:metal:

^^^Yeah, they were filthy! I didn’t really realize it until I got the new ones. I’m excited to be getting close to finalizing the interior. Next, I’ll be under the hood.

And...thanks on the wheels! I’m pretty pleased with them. Killed me not to go bigger, but this is going to be a driver...a lot of driving.

I had somebody PM me for a pic with the wheels on the front. I haven’t even moved it, so the front is sitting up. I still need to wash it again (since the buff & polish), a few coats of polish & wax, and then put the trim back on. I haven’t decided if I should put the Silverado trim back on or not...it wasn’t on it when I got it, but it’s a Silverado?

TKCR 05-30-2019 08:35 PM

I personally like the trim.

I kinda do too. But I need to get a closer look at it on a truck. It’s either sold in a roll, or for a truck with only a d/s tank. The difference in price is SUBSTANTIAL! I need to see what the edges look like at the “cuts”.

I likem both ways ...with and without trim.....kinda like a chocolate cake with chocolate icing..vs..chocolate cake with chocolate icing and sprinkles on top...

Sorry, no pictures...but a full pass with Mother’s clay bar, 2 rounds of Meguiar’s #7 and then 3 coats of Meguiar’s ultimate wax later and it’s one slick 8itch  I got the rest of the wheel arch trim and such put back on too. I’ll get some pics up this week.

I love how the Clay Bar cleans the paint and makes it smooth as a baby butt. I just did my 2006 Chevy Colorado. She’s slicker than snot!
I use Griots products, since I do some Detailing on the side. I like how I can get most of their products in gallon refills.

Mines still not baby butt smooth, but it’s much better than when I got it. It was more like 200 grit rough. :)

I’ve never used the Griots, but I’ve heard great things about their products!

On another note, I got a shipping confirmation on my remaining door panel trim pieces. Looks like Wednesday. But, I’m still waiting on the seat cover.

Yep, that’s what I was told too.

I did finally have a chance to get the door panels assembled and installed with the new carpet lower pieces. I replaced the upper long brushed trim, door pull & chrome covers, velour inserts (went from light blue to a darker blue) and the armrests. My wife is putting new elastic in the door pockets, hence why they’re missing. But I do think it looks much better.

Before & after...

I’ve got to find a sport rear bumper. I just don’t like the big step on a lowered truck.

I did drive it a little bit today just to get a feel for it. Man, it rides & handles really well! Still need the seat cover and the replacement headlights (hence why the headlight bezels aren’t in it) and then just drive it some.

Check out how well the paint shined up...
