Think I maybe solved my bumpsteer problem.
Nothing like machining new parts. Void warranty in the 1st 30 seconds |

Spindles showed time to get this together
@scoti Is there a recommendation for a bag and upper bag plate ? See some are flat and recessed into the coil bucket |
Re: 2wd swap
With my arms shifted forward, I made my own upper plates.
Cardboard templates of the x-member transferred over to 3/16" plate. Mounted the bags to the lower arms & marked/traced out onto the plates to understand the center-line needed for them. |

The ruffstuff insert was the wrong taper.
So a good friend made some new ones with a correct taper. |

Kid brazed in the new inserts my friend made for us.
Still going to need a bump steer kit I believe |

So...
I think we have beat the bumpsteer |
Re: 2wd swap
Looks good. Hard to tell from the angle though. You could always check it but cycling the suspension (especially since you dont have the spring in) and check to see how far it moves.
|
Re: 2wd swap
It's does good til full droop.
But it's well beyond the advertised bag travel. |

Is a 1.500 id bushing enough interference?

Re: 2wd swap
Guess you're not a mind reader.
For our rear links. Was planning in using the the rear spring hanger to locate the lower link. 2 inch x 1/4 wall dom tube is 1.490 I.D |

Wheels came in American racing rodders
20x8 and 9.5 with 245/40r20 and 275/40r20 kuhmos Can't wait to mock it up |
Re: 2wd swap
Nice.
What was the outcome on the rear link bar/bushing combo? |
Re: 2wd swap

The bushing fits with grease. Rolled a edge of the urethane May have to hone them a bit. Still on the fence about the 2 link... |

Kid wants a 4 link. I want simple, he wants performance. Just happy we got a rack made for it to move around carrying it was killing me. |
Re: 2wd swap
(2 link + 4 link) / 2 people = 3 link?
|
Re: 2wd swap

2 link- 4 link- trailing arm its all in the air currently
Just happy I don't have to carry the frame around. And trying to convince myself I shouldn't 5 lug swap and lay the crew cabbie |

Definitely 8 lug.
Well if I go that way. You'll get a pm with a parts list. You helped me a ton with the 91 I did for my bro in law |

Pretty basic static drop for now. Unsure if I'll do full bag swap or just helpers @ this point. The plan was full swap but it sits good & it's nice not having to clearance the bejeezus out of everything. It high centered this past weekend pulling that load in the pic as it sits. Heavier loads will need some help. |

This is the '91 3500 you helped me with.
350 4spd now with a 3.08 10 bolt. Went ghetto tho reamed 1/2 stock spindles for the 3500 ball joints Clipped 2 coils and new axle pads cause a flip wouldn't with 3500 spring hangers. I bought when the b-i-l spun out on meth and since sold it to a neighbor |
Re: 2wd swap
I just welded the ends of the flip brackets to the leaf pads on the housing. Kept them from moving. Did the welds where I could easily buzz it off if/when desired.

Rotor fits in the wheel center. Was really concerned they wouldn't.
But the rotor got swallowed up in a 20" wheel. |
Re: 2wd swap
What diameter rotor? 13" (12.8) or ??
|
Re: 2wd swap
Quote:
11.9 according to the order. Powerstop rotors. Seems like enough room for a pad swap with out taking the wheels off. Ha ! |
Re: 2wd swap
Ahh.... Replacement C10 size. I though you might have upsized.
|
Re: 2wd swap

But they backordered til end of August so got the 20's and the rotor looks silly in there |

Re: 2wd swap
It's going together with the parts we have. If it stops weird I'll put the slotted stuff on my 73 and do something different on the k5
Was looking at afco calipers 1.25 rotor 4 piston deal. |
Re: 2wd swap
I imagine it will stop just fine.

Looking at something like this
|
Re: 2wd swap
Just need to calc the dual smaller pistons vs. a D52 big piston & see what difference there is.
