Not being familier with the Mitsubishi Starion/Chrysler Conquest I just googled images of them.
I can see the attraction, some of them have a real DeLoren look to them.

I had to smile when you said "future project" I know even with all the space I am going to have on our homestead, any "future projects" are goibng to come with an exacting dicipline of "you are next" or "you are following this one".

Otherwise I am going to end up being that old guy that you meet, who wont sell something because "I am gonna fix that up, someday...." but they never do.

Whatever you end up doing Astro, I would like to watch.
The work you do is amazing !!

I didn't know there were any Starions left! A girl we went to high school had a white one, we always called it a Plymouth Starion Conquest because I think that's what the nameplate said. We still joke about the car, 15 years later. At the time we all though they were really a collection of overstock parts from Mitsubishi and Chrysler/Dodge. The parts guy in town knew the car well, and dreaded it. My friend who was always working on it would have the hardest time finding the right stuff!

Well... when it rains it pours!! I had found a one owner '89 Conquest with the SHP suspension package (1" wider wheels all around- 8"/9", 8 way adjustable Tokico struts) on craigslist but the guy never emailed or called back... so I bought the two that were down the road. I had just finished loading and hauling the second one back to the shop and was pressure washing it when the guy called and said that his buyer passed and I was second on the list. See where this is going? I drove up and looked at it yesterday and I'll be going back this week to sign the title over and drag it home too! So much for extra Goldilocks bucks... The first two will be sold or parted to recoupe most of the cost of the white car.

He has the original sales invoice, a lot of service receipts, the owners manual, and a few pictures from when it was new. It has the 2.6 turbo, 5 speed, sunroof, leather, and SHP package. Still has the original paint and has never been wrecked or had any body damage other than the cracked front spoiler. It needs a good detailing, a clutch, brakes, fuel system refresh, and the seats need to be soaked in conditioner to soften the leather.

Hmmm...I must admit those are interesting looking cars, especially the white one. I kinda dig it! Sucks that it takes away from Goldilocks' money though, haha. You getting a little burnt out at the moment, or just too good of deals to pass up on the cars? I saw where you mentioned them being one of your childhood dream cars. Like Murph mentioned, whatever you're working on, I think we all look forward to watching what you do.

Not burnt out at all, I was able to pick up the first two for $800 and the white one for $1000 so I couldn't pass up those deals. We are super busy at work (three restoration jobs), and are still are helping with Gene's Willys at nights so that's the reason for no progress on my truck. I can part out the first two and probably come close to clearing the cost of the white one. The rear window louvers on the black car are worth around $500 alone. If nothing else, I could get the white one cleaned up and running and sell it for around $5k, which would go a long ways on 'Locks! I really want to keep it though.

Yep, enjoyed seeing you and Buttercup again! And worried? I'm not too sure about that, the evidence says otherwise.

Ummm... I found a second Chevy script valve cover, another offset-stud mirror head, and I'm bidding on a pair of Cibie headlights. I thought I had the whole week of the fourth off so I was going to section the crossmember but dad decided that we needed to work half a week... But yeah I need to get the engine/trans mounts made and start back on the frame bracing.

Btw, I've got nearly everything needed to get the fuel system sorted in the Conquest, once it's running I'll sell it and buy lots of Goldilocks parts. I'm sure that makes you happy.

I love this project. Only one thing, it sure looks like it will be way more than a "driver" when done. Love all the custom mods you are doing. Subscribed.

Just did a google search hoping to find a Weber manifold for LS3 heads... Inglese is now my favorite company of all time! And it's sand cast so it'll look at home with everything else that looks old!

I need to rebuild and sell my two original Weber IDA's so I can pick up a set of Empi 51 EPC copies. Also just transfered money so I can order the No Limit rack and pinion kit. The Conquest/Starions are for sale as soon as I get the title back for the white one. Progress will resume!

yes that is a beautiful setup.....just costs more the most motors. Like say a GMPP LSX454 to put it on....or 2 LS3's.

Not really, intake is $600 and four new carbs are $13-1400. So only around $2k for the main components- just need linkage, filters, and fuel lines to be complete. Way cheaper than 8 stack EFI with 100% of the performance. Other than cold start ups, the IR intake/Dellorto carbs on my VW run as smooth as the LS2 in my sisters TBSS and have 1000x better throttle response. The two minutes of running smooth at start up isn't worth spending 2k+ more for EFI. It's an old truck, it's supposed to have some quirks!

I'm going to make my own linkage and the filter will be in the hood... Going to make an air box in the hood to seal down on the carbs.
