Re: And so it begins................
Yessir, I figured you was talkin to guage. I was just letting you know mine was already done. You know, an fyi kinda deal?
Unfortunately, the block turns out to be no goody. It had a spun main bearing on #2 that ate up the block pretty bad. Too much to align bore it. So, I am looking for another 4-bolt block if anyone knows where I can locate one. I'd prefer to just go ahead and use an older 2 piece rear seal blolck I guess so I don't have to mess with a different crank or adapter. |
Re: And so it begins................
I just may have a connection for one, but if my memory is right it has to go .060 over..

Now i have about 3 TBI blocks laying around, numerous oil pans and valve covers, timing covers, heads, rods and even a couple BBC parts, its my personal iron junk yard  |
Re: And so it begins................
So you're saying if I went with another 1 piece rear seal you could fix me up?
|
Re: And so it begins................
 no not that one good try though
I know a guy that made a 383 out of a stock TBI engine 2 bolt main, it was a torky little dude for what it was  |
Re: And so it begins................
Oh, all of your TBI blocks are 2bolt?
|
Re: And so it begins................
What does it cost to convert a 2 bolt over to a 4 bolt?
I know I have read about it somewhere. |

I was just thinking if you came up with a free 2 bolt block you might be better off converting it. It seems everyone wants a fortune for the 4 bolt blocks now a days..... |
Re: And so it begins................
I just need to find a truck motor that isn't running anymore and haul it off for someone.
I'm just sayin.............. |

Re: And so it begins................
Well, I have a line on couple from craigslist but they're either bored already or complete motors they don't want to part out. I've picked up good deals on them over the years. One will slide around sooner or later if you boys just keep your eyes peeled.

Re: And so it begins................
Worked at the machine shop today and bored 3 blocks for him, some change of scenery and made a few bucks. I asked him but he doesnt have one but he knows a guy that has one but thinks it has to go .060 over so thats out but ill keep a look out. He is in need of an old style virgin block if you happen to come across one.
|
Re: And so it begins................
Does he want a 4bolt or does it matter?
|
Re: And so it begins................
Doesnt matter, the guy that wants him to build the thing wants a .030 block when done.
|
Re: And so it begins................
Ok, I'll keep an eye out.
|
Re: And so it begins................

I have a 4.3 you can stroke and put in the truck! :metal:   |
