If not, then you may be able to get a napa or monroe shock replacement for your current one.

He works for TK and Bilstein?

I got the impression that TK either owns Bilstein or they are associated some how.

Got the drag link installed last night. No cone washer. Just keep beating on it and lots of pb blaster... Exhaust shop scheduled for next Thursday.

Appreciate the info on Bilstein. I am going to run the Napa one for the time being.

Wow
I didn't know that. Looks like TK has owned them since 1988.

What are your exhaust plans?

Going to have the shop connect my header collectors to the y-pipe. Noting too exciting. Going to change the routing slightly though so I can change my fuel filter in the future.

Coming along, seeing you replace the drag link / tie rod makes me feel like I need to replace all of my steering parts in the K10. I'm not sure if it's all worn out or it's just a 30 year old solid axle truck!

Marcus,

I just went back through reading this thread. I was wondering if you could give me more info on the duplicolor paint you used on the floor and speaker brackets? I belive tge grey on my truck is the same color as yours.

Yep I'll do some searching tonight and see if I can come up with a part number. It has held up well.

Dirty Larry told me I was a punk for not checking out this awesome thread before. I've always trusted Larry's advice, and it was another home run.

Your work is awesome and the build sheet only gets better with every new page. If you want to sell at any point the lady and I are always looking for an excuse to come back to AK!

Fantastic!

Hahaha thanks Ryan. I think my wife would kill me if I sold it after all this work. You will LOVE the bbc I. Front of a 4l80e. Great combo. I'm dying to put some miles on mine now they it is tuned.

It has been in exhaust jail for almost two weeks. Hopefully I will get it back early next week. This time away from the crew cab has me pacing around the plow truck making plans.

That thing is sweet too! I think a turbo on a 292 would be kind of neat...

You are a wiser man than me! My wife is still mad at me for getting rid of my CCSB, but the worst part is now she doesn't want to help me work on any of my trucks because I'll just get rid of them later lol.

I just don't understand how an exhaust shop could keep your truck so long, that's rediculous!!

there just milking it
it simply doesnt happen in the netherlands , you need to make an apointment for a custom exhaust say 2 or 3 days in advance but they build it while you wait at the reception area be done in about one or two hours drive in and drive out

Finally got the truck back on Thursday. Friday I got a call saying don't drive your truck, the passenger side wheel bearing is toast and has a ton of play. I had asked them to look through the front end and picked up the truck without talking to the mechanic. Sure enough I jacked it up and there was about 3/4" of slop at the hub. I started to disassemble expecting mass carnage. Not very encouraging when I popped the hub selector off.

The spindle jam nut was super tight, lock washer was not engaged to the pin on the spindle nut, and spindle nut was finger loose. Grease looked great. My guess is the lock washer was put in crooked, bound up and never reached the spindle nut. Must have just come loose recently because there was absolutely zero damage. I elected to reuse the timken bearings that where in it instead of the Chinese ones Napa had. Properly installed now.

At least they notified you and you fixed it before it cost you more time and $$$!

Ain't that the truth! They were two weeks out on any time to work on it. I wrapped up the passenger side today. Figured I had better check the drivers too. Loose. Pulled the hub out and it was shot. Damn snowballing projects. Those splines are not supposed to be beveled.

Good thing I never throw anything away. These hubs came with the Dana 60 I owned briefly to put in my 77.

Geez
The snowball is my life right now lol
While I was fixing and painting the pinch weld for my windshield I noticed some substantial rust bubbles around my cab lights, it never ends!

It's certainly nice to have what you need in the spare pile!

Your repair turned out good! With the exception of the trans and t-case I'll have touched everything on this truck, which gives me a level of confidence to go far.
