Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

I have made a fatal mistake on my truck and cannot use your rear brake kit. My truck is a standard with a borg warner R10 overdrive which means my truck freewheels even with the truck in reverse and off. In other words I HAVE TO HAVE an e brake or my truck roles away in gear. I highly apologize and understand if you take some of the refund out for your troubles and fees. Please let me know if a refund is an issue. Again this is my fault and a public apology!

You apparently did not read page 1 of this for sale thread where the e-brake style of calipers are talked about.

Yes I read that but i do not want to use the caddie brakes. I have already purchased the D52's and now have to send the rears back as well. I dont want the mismatched brakes. To be honest it was more about looks than function for me.

He sells brackets for Camaro calipers as well which have e-brake.

Anything in the works for this same setup on a Ford 9"?

Captainfab 07-16-2016 11:31 PM

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Sorry but no. If you are running stock Ford housing ends, just about everyone runs the Explorer rear disc assembly. If you are running a narrowed 9" with the correct Impala/truck housing ends, I have the correct base brackets that will retain the axle bearings and allow you to be able to run these D52 brackets.

Are you still making these brackets? They look way sturdier than the junk on eBay.

I received my brackets today!!!!! I'm excited!!!! These things are heavy duty. I had purchased a set of weld on brackets from anther vendor but when they arrived, i wasn't too convinced with the 1/4" steel. You get what you pay for. Those 1/4" brackets were only about 10 bucks a piece and no hardware. These Captain brackets are worth every penny. I was very impressed with the packaging. I have had delicate items delivered with much less padding than these brackets did. Sorry for jumping around, its just a good day. I'm hoping to finish my propane tank smoker this weekend so my son and i can get started on this. Thanks Capt.

BTW, whats everyone doing for the MC and the proportioning valve. I was thinking using a MC from a 1982 corvette and a PV4 combination valve. Any thoughts

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

I'm using a Mopar MC since they are aluminum & plastic and make for a really clean & cheap install. They have 3/8" fittings and come in a wide range of bore sizes. You need to open up the mounting holes slightly but otherwise they bolt right onto the firewall.

Here are the part numbers I've gathered:

I am using a cheap ebay prop. valve inline with the rear circuit.

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Thanks crakarjax, i'll check into those. That's some good info you got there on the MC's.

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

I would just use a '77-'82 Corvette master and the prop valve for that application and/or an adjustable valve in the rear line. If you want an aluminum and plastic master, the '83+ Corvette, '85+ F-body's, '85+ Eldorado's, '94-'96 Impala SS. Caprice 9C1's as well as C/K1500 trucks in the 90's with 4 wheel disc will work.

will these work with a 15" wheel? i currently have them on my pickup but want to step down to a smaller rim.

Captainfab 11-23-2016 01:30 AM

Re: D52 Caliper Rear Disc Brake Brackets

Yes, 15" wheels will work as long as they are disc brake compatible wheels.
