Me , I love looking at this monster engine because , well , POWER , right ? . Nevertheless , I'll keep my old tech 250 / 292 6 Bangers :chevy: . |

Here's a few pics of my 250 in my '71 with a '79 Stepside bed...
1- Standing next to the engine bolting up the transmission. Just another cool benefit! 2- The completed engine with P/S and AC 3- Does anyone else have a spare valve cover with the top cut out of it for setting the valves with no oil splatter? 4- My new project is a '79 stepside with this integrated head six that runs really solid also with P/S and AC. Since the brackets are different for those rare items from the conventional head, I am going to run the integrated heads... I am going to swap the Saginaw three speed for the TH 350 next. Question... Do you have to use that multilevel integrated head valve cover? I hate the way it looks. Can I use one of those tiny air cleaners and a classic 250 valve cover or are they different? |
Re: Post Your Straight Six Pics!
I have an L6 valve cover I've been meaning to cut out for a valve-adjust piece, just haven't needed it yet.
Nice 250. What carb is on that Offy intake? I have never messed with the integrated heads, always been steered away. I hear the later blocks will take an earlier head ['60s + '70s]. |

Re: Post Your Straight Six Pics!
Hey do you know where I can get a air filter assembly set up like yours?
|
Re: Post Your Straight Six Pics!
My air cleaner assembly is the factory oil bath type. Not many of them around. The offset filter style are hard to find also. The non offset filter type can be found on the for sale section or a local junkyard. I have 2 I found in the Baton Rouge area junkyards over the years. Think I am gunna keep em. Getting harder to find.
Post a wanted ad in the for sale section. I'm sure someone will pop up with one. |

Latest on my 292. Working on the truck now. Gonna be ordering the air cleaner from billet specialties and a DUI ignition. :chevy:

I may yet go to the HEI, if I update the alternator -- probably around October, since this old Tank still has to pass smog emissions in AZ. Could you post the p/n for the DUI unit? And give us a review of how well it works. Points work great -- if you remember to change them twice a year and haven't donated your dwell meter to the Smithsonian. I had a backlog of nos L6 ignition stuff. |

I understand your aesthetic concern for color-coordinated distributors and engine parts, but with a Chevy Engine Orange plant, Mallory Red, Delco Black or Accel Tan are not too disruptive for cap colors. By going retro on the points system, I AM using USA parts. Also kept the same wires, just regapped the plugs back to .035. |
Re: Post Your Straight Six Pics!
Does anyone know if running a inline 194 in one of these trucks would be good? found a deal on a good rebuilt one out of a 62-63 nova. my truck is a 64 c10 long fleet.

Re: Post Your Straight Six Pics!
You have to change the oil pan, oil pump and I don't know what else. The sump is on the front. It wouldn't be worth the effort even if they gave it to you.
