Made a little progress this week. I got the engine/trans in the frame. Now I can begin routing exhaust, fuel lines, etc...

Looks awesome!!! That motor is sexy! She is gonna be nasty! I helped a friend put a 427 in a 68 Camaro... That car was stupid fast. My 377cu 70 Camaro could barely keep up with it at the track. After about 60 feet, all I saw was tail lights. Your truck is gonna be sick.... Watching every post!

Love the concept. One of my build ideas originally was to do a "Yenko" truck. I shouldn't be following as I keep having to talk myself out of a 427 BB build. lol

Thanks guys! I have some fuel line parts ordered and need to finish up the mock up of all of the other engine/trans connections and accessories. More pics later this week.

Re: '68 COPO Concept - Vulgar Display of Power

I'm still working on engine/trans accessories and connection in preparation for mounting and mocking up the cab. More on that later.

I am also trying to make decisions on initial wheel and tire setup and would like opinions on this idea. As mentioned earlier I have a nice set of factory '68 dogdish hubcaps that I'd like to run on this concept initially, i will probably have a set of 18/20 billets on here down the road.

http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l1...ps22146755.jpg

My original plan was to mini-tub the bed(~5" tub) and run 15x7/15x10 steelies painted body color with a fairly wide and sticky rear tire on the rear (325/50/15 Mickey Thompson ET Street Drag Radials?) but these have my proverbial wheels turning.

http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l1...ps1d9a5f94.jpg

Circle Racing 108 Series in 18x8 and either 18x11 or 20x9.5 with some wider tire in the 29" tall range. I think I would either paint the centers or the entire wheel. I should add that none of these options will have a really deep look, as I'm running a stock width '68 rearend converted to 5 lug. I will order wheels with appropriate backspace to fit the tires under the fenders.

Thoughts?

I am digging the concept behind this one. Your intial wheel choice is spot on with the stock 15" steelies. I have thought about those same Circle Racing wheels in 20" for my '65, but they are a bit pricey for me...

I'd say go for it!

Thanks guys. I was a Pantera fan very early on Steven. I'd like to hear both of your feedback on the Circle Racing wheels w/dog dishes shown above.

Re: '68 COPO Concept - Vulgar Display of Power

I like them, but man they are pricey! If you are keeping with the COPO theme, then they definitely have to be completely painted, with the chrome caps. If you kept them polished I could trade you some painted caps that need re-painting, but definitely NOT shiny on shiny.

Likewise, if you keep the step-side (which I REALLY hope you do), you need to stick with the same diameter front & rear, the 18's would look real good on there. I wouldn't go bigger unless you decide to bag it.

Just my $.02

BTW, I am picking up the flaring tool this afternoon and should be up your way Tuesday. Are you off for Mardi Gras and want to meet up or just leave it with Wynne?

Re: '68 COPO Concept - Vulgar Display of Power

Cool, I agree on your points about the wheels. I'm not off for Mardi Gras, but might be able to go out there so let me know when you are gonna be there.

Re: '68 COPO Concept - Vulgar Display of Power

I found this pic on Circle Racing's website. The way the center rolls back to where it meets up with the hoop, it looks like it will give a naturally deep looking wheel on these trucks. I think you definitely need these now!

It's funny, I've saved every pic of that truck that I can find. The owner is a member here. Those are 17x9.5 and 17x11.

Re: '68 COPO Concept - Vulgar Display of Power

Does he have a thread on it, I'd like to see more of it. It's a nice clean truck.

**EDIT** - Nevermind, I found the owner.

No joke, that is a cool truck! If no thread could you toss up a couple more pics of them wheels? When you first mentioned those I went for a look and YIKES! $$$ They are damn cool tho!
