Just a few quick shots of the progress. Radiator support and radiator installed with the transmission cooler. Got the fuel cell going in and started the wiring also. Lot's done, but lots more to go.

Not sure on the color it was painted this color when I purchased it.

color looks like bahama blue used in 1992 chevy trucks. On a side note do you know the length of your steering column??

Re: 1955 2nd Series Build Start

Not sure of the length, but it's an IDIDIT column Part# 1140652020. It's a direct replacement.

Getting the Tubs installed now. This is how we plan to install by bolting them to the wood in the bed. Ordered all the cables, accelerator, brake and light dimmer pedals should be in today. Ready to hear it fire up soon.

Your truck looks great! You've come a long way.

It appears that you have the same fuel tank that I have. I got mine from a local guy off craigslist. It was new, but he didn't remember the brand. I'm looking to re-do my filler neck. Do you recall where you got the tank or who made it? Mine comes really close to the bottom of the bed and I"m hoping the manufacturer has a recommended filler. Thanks.

Re: 1955 2nd Series Build Start

Thank you for the complement. The fuel cell came from Classic Parts and I purchased my filler neck from Tank Inc. They have some nice filler necks and caps. I'm using this one.

We got it fired up yesterday...Original heater core leaked...But all the gauges and tach worked good. Had 60# of oil pressure at idle. Trying to load the video but can't figure it out.

Does anyone have any suggestion on exhaust? I'm think either turn down after the muffler before the rear end or exiting out before the rear tire? I'm looking to get with a shop later this week to see about routing. I have the rear mounted fuel cell as shown in the pictures. Thanks!

Cool idea on the tubs. S-10?

Actually inner fenders of a ford ranger.

Re: 1955 2nd Series Build Start

exhaust is kinda tough, room wise, but better out the back for keeping things looking nice, paint etc. oxides of nitrogen in the exhaust tend to accel the oxidation of any bare metal from rock chips etc. heat tends to warm up diff housings. never been a fan of out the side or turned down under the unit but, out the side maybe better if not out the back. just my thoughts though. out the side tends to put a coating on things like wheels and fenders.

Just a thought but my plan is to run them to the outside then over the axle and back, my bump stops are under the chassis so i may have more room than you and not sure on your ground clearance either, like i say, just a thought.

We are mocking up the front clip and everything is looking like it will work. Got the new Lokar accelerator pedal in and cable getting it hooked up. Hopefully get the truck out to the muffler shop by the end of the week.

Able to get the Truck to the Muffler shop for the exhaust Friday. Had enough room to route it behind the tires. I have some tips, but need to get the tubs in a bed back on before installing them. Going to re-route some of the braided cables for the brake lines now that the exhaust is in.

Starting to get the truck back together now. The lights are working, turn signals and the interior lights now working. Finishing up the tubs this week for the bed, installing the horn then installing the new chrome grill, bumpers and head light bezels. Hopefully getting it to the alignment shop in the next couple weeks'. Been driving it around the block everything seems to be work good right now.

Looking good!!:chevy:

Re: 1955 2nd Series Build Start

with the braided brake lines you may need some heat shields since the braided lines usually have teflon liners and they may not like the exhaust so much.
looking good
