Sal looks on as 'Tony Tech' installs the massive 31" tires and wheels onto the truck. We will be measuring for proper wheels and tires in the next week or so.

Re: TCI to start new R&D Project with a C10!
We finished up some first articles this week. The long tedious process of confirming fixtures and parts begins now.
http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps49cecdb7.jpg Stock parts = #342 lbs http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/a...pscf7d382e.jpg TCI parts = 270 lbs (Total weight savings of 72 lbs) http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/a...psf31a67ce.jpg We also picked up a 2nd chassis to use as a rolling display. It just happened to be a longbed so we made a How-To to show the process of making it a shortbed. http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps6922dd6a.jpg -J |
Re: TCI to start new R&D Project with a C10!
That's an impressive weight savings! When will you get some road time with the kit installed?

The Truckin Throwdown was in our back yard (Fontana) last Friday so I think that event helped light a fire. We can't let Rob be a glory hog. http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps34f62ec1.jpg http://i981.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps7047bc70.jpg -J |

Re: TCI to start new R&D Project with a C10!
What is the max rim width your C/O arrangement allows (since this a 'touring' based app)?

Re: TCI to start new R&D Project with a C10!
Looks great but a question. Having the rear coil overs outboard of the frame, won't that limit you on how wide of a wheel you can fit?

BTW, the TCI outboard doesn't look any farther out than ours. 12" no problem (will need wider tubbs after 10") 14" can be done, but it's very tight. We did 345/30/19 on 19x12" wheels, had a 13 5.8 section width. |

Re: TCI to start new R&D Project with a C10!
I have to admit, you've got me curious about the dog bone for the torque arm mount. I was starting to wonder how you could have the rear axle solidly mounted and then have 3 pivot points on different planes without binding, but this is an ingenious idea! But I wonder how much you gain with a torque arm running with truck arms? Are you predicting enough flex in the rear end housing that the truck arms aren't enough to maintain a correct pinion angle? All cool things, just thought I'd spark some more conversation...

Re: TCI to start new R&D Project with a C10!
Mike I had to take a close look after you posted this and was wondering how that would work. Well it looks like it will work fine. the truck arms we are used to are not truck arms at all. There is a pivot in the back making this a true 3 link. Kinda slick the way it is done.

I have stared at the picks several times and each time see something new. Wish the pics were bigger, I bet we would see lots of other cool things done on this setup. I am waiting for the pic with the engine and trans installed so I can see how they do the exhaust.
