Well, yesterday was my birthday, so I played hookie from work and did one of my favorite things to do...I worked on my truck! I took the seat back out and laid in some carpet.

First was the pad...I went to the junk yard and got a factory pad out of truck there that was in pretty decent shape... $4!:metal:

Next, using a speaker we found in the truck when we cleaned it out, I ran some speaker wire and hooked it up. It's only temporary, but it does the job and it's nice to have some tunes in there...:metal:

Sound system - $0.00...;)

Then I got my $8 roll of Wal Mart carpet and laid that in. It was kind of a pain to get up and over the hump, but I still came out pretty good. It's not perfect, but I'm happy with the results...:chevy:

Then I put in the kick panel trim pieces, the sill plates, and the seat back in. I also put in a nice Grant steering wheel I scored from my buddy Greg (65panelrat).:chevy::ito:

After that I sat back and relaxed and stared at my old truck for awhile... put on my "Chevy Only" sticker that I got from Dino63 and took a few more pics...:chevy:

My Lady came home from work and took me out to a great dinner...a perfect way to end the day..;).. I had a great birthday!!:ito:

Re: 1973 Cheyenne Super 10

Thanks guys. Next is a 'do-it-yourself' paint job. I'd been planning to do it in a satin black Rustoleum but the other day when I got in the truck it was hotter than hell in there...and we are not even in the 80's yet...imagine how hot it would be in the middle of the summer with that black absorbing the sun's heat! Now I'm thinking of doing a satin white and I'm going to have my buddy, Danny (D-Ray) lay down some green and black pinstripes. Later on down the line, when I have more money and time to do the body work I will have it painted green and white in the original two-tone scheme.

Great build, truck looks awesome. I agree, the white w/pin stripes will look great. I can't wait to see it.

Re: 1973 Cheyenne Super 10

Thanks for all the nice comments!

A word of warning...for anyone doing their headliner like we did ours, DO NOT use any spray glue...Even if it is called "Headliner Glue"... The temperature has been rising over here as of late and the headliner didn't last a week in mid-70 degree weather. It's all hanging down. So, time to get out the screwdriver and take it down and try again. I have a cousin in Nevada that does upholstery and he uses contact cement. We are going to re-do it with that. I'll keep you posted on that...JC

Let me guess you gonna blame it on the misses since she was the one doing it in the pic?:lol: Those headliners can be a pain. I need to do one for mine, one of those easy things that I'm dreading.

No no...I'm not blaming her. It's all that dam glue's fault. I had my doubt in it from the beginning, but since it was called "headliner" glue, I thought it might be worth a crap. She's going to be there when we re-do it with the right stuff...;)

Thanks man! It feels good to bring a truck, that was pretty much left for dead and bring it back to life... The real payoff is driving it...:metal:
