Re: JUS2QWK'S Official Build Thread
your pretty limited on space for sure if you don't want to put it in the bed, maybe on the side of the frame behind the rear wheel or make a box and put it in the bed, maybe like a ice chest?

Re: JUS2QWK'S Official Build Thread
Yea its kind of a bummer... but I've got a few Ideas, I'm actually designing a bracket that places everything basically the same as the EXO set up

Re: JUS2QWK'S Official Build Thread
Well after an eventful summer Im finally getting motivated to work on the truck again. For a little update I built a 68 that I ended up swapping the chassis and wheels ect with. The truck turned out really well for a shop truck and was fun but I had to let it go or I would have never worked on the silver one haha.

Re: JUS2QWK'S Official Build Thread
so now Ive taken the orange trucks frame and have started on it. I have it completly stripped and have most of the portertbuilt stuff drilled and test fitted, control arms are on the way. Im still trying to figure out which spindle and brake set up im going with but im leaning towards the cpp big brake kit but dont know yet. I still have to raise the bed floor and make the mounts for that and the mounts for my air tank and compressor then its off to be powder coated. Ill try to get some pictures soon and try to keep you guys updated

Re: JUS2QWK'S Official Build Thread
I know its been awhile and I haven't done much with the truck but I did get my air tank crossmember made. I think it turned out pretty good for what I was working with what do yall think?
these are the new bed mounts where Im raising the floor http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps9c837eb6.jpg here you can see where the crossmember goes and where I trimmed out the head panel http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps083e5d1d.jpg |

Re: JUS2QWK'S Official Build Thread
Looks good. Which PB setup did you go with?
|
Re: JUS2QWK'S Official Build Thread
I just went with the stage 1 front and stage 2 rear since I've never dealt with air ride before so I thought I would try a simple set up first. I love the trucks that put the frame on the ground but that wasn't the look I was going for on this build. hopefully I can do one like that in the future. mine should set something like this one.

Re: JUS2QWK'S Official Build Thread
I just checked your thread out. looks like we are in the same boat. step sides make hiding the tank and compressors a lot harder!! What do you think you are gonna do?

Re: JUS2QWK'S Official Build Thread
Yeah I have the same kit but can't make up my mind.
I keep going back and forth on a mild step notch but the changes are starting to get expensive real quick and would have to sell pretty much everything I've bought in the last year. Probably going back to using what I have and a mild DM and control arms. I've been texting two of my best friends today with pics so they can help me make up my mind since I'm not capable. They both like the stance of Stella as its more of a "hot rod" look. Plus it would be a faster and cheaper build for me. :D |
Re: JUS2QWK'S Official Build Thread
My plan is to mount the tank behind the rear crossmember between it and the rear bumper. From my measurements the Accuair 5-gallon should fit. I have a PB air management bracket I'm going to use to house a single Viair 480 compressor behind the drivers rear wheel. Using the bracket simply for a little protection from rocks, debris and flying rubber from the tires :burnout:

Re: JUS2QWK'S Official Build Thread
I hear ya. its all expensive!!! I wish I had a drop member for the front but what I have now will do. I like the hot rod look on a stepside. I would have put my tank and everything back there too but I moved my fuel tank there

Re: JUS2QWK'S Official Build Thread
I just reread your post. I didnt realize you meant between the bumper and the rear crossmember. thats a good idea, I never even checked to see if that would work. :hh:
