A few more of the progress. Now would be the perfect time to drop a big block in this thing. Tommy (the guy doing the work on the 250 and painting the frame) has (6) of them laying around his shop. Dad has been talking about a 454 so, we may pick one up and drop it in his truck. Why do these things suffer from the " snowball effect "? You have to love snow tires on a 2wd short bed. Can you say low mileage farm truck anyone????? Fender mounted spare tires are the only way to fly for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They have made some great progress since I saw it last week, will have to stop by when I'm out that way in a couple of days.

Thanks Quincy. They are making some progress. I am going to see if I can talk Tommy out of one of those (6) 454's he has sitting at his shop. He can't use them all. He said he is going to drop one in that 72' lwb C10 he picked up and see if he can make some money at the track..............

Big Brown just showed up at my house yesterday with a box contacting my new bucket seat covers. Going to have Dad show me how to do the seats since he is the upholster in family.

Not yet my man. We are trying to locate a complete 73' lwb 454 at a local yard that the owner has stashed in an out of the way place (he has to draw my Dad a map of where he has it stashed in his junkyard).

My old man is trying to pick up the whole truck for parts. Mainly I just want the drive train and the rear end. That is if the man that owns the yard is ready to make a deal or watch the truck rust into the ground.

Re: " Quality Time "

We are also trying to strike a deal through some kin on a 67' swb step side so, we will see how that goes. Rust free per my old man with the exception of the rockers. Standing offer of $ 2500 for it

Some more updates from my body man Tommy................it amazes me how much rust is hidden on these old things. The dreaded rocker panel and floor pan rust. He was delayed on this for about (2) weeks due to some other work. Based on what he told me yesterday, he hopes to have the cab in primer by the end of the week. I guess I need to send him my " A ' brackets for the bucket seats so he can weld them to the floor pan. It really sucks to be so disconnected from your project.....................

Some more shots of his handy work. Take one thing off and then it is a snowball affect. Now I realize I was smart to get rid of the " Brown Hornet ". This cab is in much better shape (for the most part)

Got some goodies back from the powder coat guy. He did a nice job and I might be helping him out on the weekends in his shop. May significantly cut down on my future powder coat needs if all I have to do is pay for supplies and coat them myself. Had the sway bar done in glossy red just because I like it!!!!!

Now I am just waiting to get my buckets back from the upholstery guy...

Fresh from the upholstery shop. Almost too pretty to sit in. Now onto finding a dash and 67' seat belts. I still have to dye all of the plastic parts and console but, we are getting close. I hate paint shop jail right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hanskter,

Those are factory high back buckets and regular cab truck brackets I pulled out of a 78' GMC High Sierra. The seats and the console ran us $ 160 at the yard. I got to talking with the guy about sets that we have both sold and he knew he probably could have gotten more for them however, this was not my 1st time @ the rodeo. He said $ 160 and that's what he got. The truck specific bucket seat brackets are worth that alone (and then some)

Thanks Bruiser. It is slow going at the moment and I am gearing up for a build on a truck for my Dad now too. Trying to talk the old man into a big block. He has not had a vehicle with a big block in it since the late 60's and his 66' GTO that he bought brand new

To be honest with you, I have not a clue. My old man is the upholsterer in the family. He did the seats on my 68' Camaro. We purchased the covers and he was going to do these however, they need a little foam repair on them so he dropped them off to be covered.

The old man is retired and has that kind of disposable income that I do not have with a 1st grader and one about to start kindergarten. I can find out for you when I talk to him tonight. He is back in Louisiana checking on this truck and trying to buy a little 67' swb stepside that is sitting behind my grandfather's repair shop that is run by my cousin.

No telling how long the seats sat in the junkyard. There was no rust on the bottom of the frame and this is a yard that no one really goes to unless they no about it.

Thanks for the response, I am trading my stock bench and $200 for racing seats and all the brackets to make them work in my 86 c10

Choices........thinking about converting it to A/C. Possibly on the hunt for a donor vehicle to complete the swap. I may have to rethink my motor choice as well
