I got mine in today. Front Kit came with S/S brake lines, but the rear has rubber lines. The really cool thing is that the front hub is considerably smaller in diameter and height...so my Series 2 Boss 338's fit like a glove :metal:. Now, not only do I have 13" F&R brakes (the front w/ dual piston calipers), but I can use wheels that I thought I would never actually be able to use on this application!

Here's a shot of them. I haven't put them on the truck yet obviously, but I assembled the entire assembly to confirm that the 338's were going to fit without issue.

I got the new M/C and Disc/Disc p/v from Jeff @ CPP in today. So, I am finally ready to get started. I also bought the rear kit as well, so I will start on installing everything this weekend. I will be snatching the rearend out Friday afternoon and pull the axles so I can go ahead and machine the center hub and overall outside diameter of the axle stub down to fit the C5 rotor and then I will run the rearend to get the Auburn, 3.42's and the bearings/seals installed. And as soon as I get it back from him I will complete the brake install and put the new rear leaf springs and flip on the Blazer.

I did some measuring on the axle end, and came up with some rough numbers for how much material needs to be removed to install the rotor properly. From the center hub, is a 0.276" overall, or 0.138" from the existing diameter (a touch over 1/8"). From the actual axle "flange", the part the studs are in, will require 0.250 or 1/4" removed from the existing diameter to accomodate the rotor which leaves 1/4" of material beyond the wheel stud.

I will machine them and post the exact #'s that I start & end with & per Ken's request, take lots of pictures ;)

Do you have easy access to a machine shop? I'm curious what the work will cost on average. I wonder if it might be worth having a set built to specs.

Ken, I would think that if you pulled the axle shafts and pressed (hammered) out the studs before taking them to the machine shop, it would be less expensive to machine the axles. I have done it before at work and it only takes one set up on a lathe to do both the OD and the center register on the axle. If a new set of axles is $400, and the shop rate is $75 or less, it should take a competent machinist less than 3 hours to do both axles ($225).

Now, that being said, if the old axles show signs of wear on the bearing surface or you are planning more power or better tires for traction, than a new stronger alloy axle might be a better choice...

Yeah, I have a very good friend who owns a very large machine shop that just happens to be about an 1/8th of a mile from my house :metal:. He said I could use the lathe to do the work one weekend day or one evening during the week. They don't use them much, they do more of the punching/bending type stuff now, but they still have more machines in one HUGE building than I have ever seen. We are working on a c-notch kit right now also.
