Re: "Sweet Pea" 1975 Cheyenne 20
Oh... also looking real tuff with The Intimidator helping keep the dash safe from the sun :) And those blue plates fitting right in as well!
I'm going for the overall period piece here, gotta look the part :chevy: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...0da96434_c.jpgUntitled by awesome_adawson, on Flickr |
Re: "Sweet Pea" 1975 Cheyenne 20
I'd say rattle can those wheels and put them on. You'll be into it a couple of cans of paint which is no big loss if you decide to PC them later if you find a better price. Era correct plates are cool.

Re: "Sweet Pea" 1975 Cheyenne 20
So after being quoted $125 a wheel to powder coat these steelies white I did some more research and found that Les Schwab Tire Center will sandblast and PC your wheels for $40 a pop. Sounded too good to be true... but its legit. Their color selection is minimal, but I wanted white so no biggie. Dropped em off and got a call 3 days later. Boom.
Look great from a few feet out... https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...85471f0d_c.jpgUntitled by awesome_adawson, on Flickr Buttttttttttttt... get up close and you can see all the little bubbles along the edge :dohh: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...4e08de74_c.jpgUntitled by awesome_adawson, on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...ce20bb82_c.jpgUntitled by awesome_adawson, on Flickr Ugh. It sucks... I did some more searching and found a few other reports of that happening, not just with Les Schwab, but higher dollar PC places too. One person suggested a little bead of silicone caulking in there to seal over the bubbles... Might give that a go... Oh well... you get what you pay for i guess. From a few feet out you cant tell. |

Re: "Sweet Pea" 1975 Cheyenne 20
Maybe it's been mentioned, but it looks like there is media blast material stuck in the seam? I wanted to get a set of rallies blasted and PC'd here in town and the company didn't want to do it because of that exact problem; getting that two-piece seam cleaned before powder coating???
Truck looks terribly awesome!! Very Nice. |

Re: "Sweet Pea" 1975 Cheyenne 20
Added new weather stripping today around the cab. Did the upper door seal as well as the complete cab weatherstrip kit from Brothers.
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...17f9832f_c.jpgUntitled by awesome_adawson, on Flickr Comparison of the old to the new. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...7737e360_c.jpgUntitled by awesome_adawson, on Flickr Used Permatex super weatherstrip adhesive for the upper cab stripping. It all went on pretty easily, only had to remove a few pieces of the trim to fit the weather strip in, but overall it was about a 1 hour install. The only downfall now is that the cab is sealed so well that you really have to slam the crap out of the doors to get them shut. |

Re: "Sweet Pea" 1975 Cheyenne 20
Also, got some fabric samples from SMS Fabrics, looking to have a fresh seat cover made... thinking plaid inserts and green vinyl surround, like a play on the Highlander seats...
Which one goes best with the truck? https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...621294c3_c.jpgUntitled by awesome_adawson, on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...cfcfbc06_c.jpgUntitled by awesome_adawson, on Flickr |

Don't you think that one wi be kind of busy? Think of it as a large swatch of fabric, like 6' x 5'. I think that one with the small checks will be a bit much. I really don't like any of them. I like what he has on it now. |

I like this. But if I were to choose a plaid, maybe the top left.
