So now with most of the suspension stuff back together - on to the less fun stuff..... rust repair
The cab has the typical rust for my area (Northwest) - front cab mounts were non-existent, floor was rotten & rockers (inner & outer) are garbage Attachment 2056162 after ripping off some of the rubber insulation from the floor..... Attachment 2056163 I wanted to get the cab mount in & secured before cutting out the rockers - Attachment 2056164 Attachment 2056165 |

then on to the real cutting -
Attachment 2056166 Floor & rockers tacked in place Attachment 2056167 I got my son to help me test fit the door, needed to make a bit of an adjustment on the outer rocker, but not much. Fit isn't perfect - but part of that is due to the aftermarket door I think as it wasn't great before either. Attachment 2056171 I may end up adding a bit to the bottom edge of the door to improve the gaps, but I'll wait until I do the final sheetmetal fit up to decide if that is necessary or not |

and this happened to follow me home last night....... so we'll see what ends up happening with it soon (it's a runner and with a little work a driver, but it needs this same rust repair on the cab - the parts needed came with it (mostly))

Re: #corona10truck - 77 C-10, pancaked crossmember - z'd frame etc etc etc
Thanks for posting the rocker and floor pictures. Never tackled that myself before and plan on doing it over this winter. Helpful to see it all cut out. Great project this year!

Yes, I always like seeing somebody's approach to rust repair sequencing.

Back to finishing off the other side -
Floor is a bit uglier than the drivers side....Not by much though Attachment 2060548 rough cut out of floor Attachment 2060549 Replaced a section of the floor brace & added the new cab mount & floor support piece Attachment 2060550 Floor tacked in (outer rocker is cut out at this point & the new inner rocker is also tacked in) Attachment 2060551 Finished welding, primer, a bit of filler on the new rockers at the seams, seam sealer on all the floor welds & a bit of spray paint Attachment 2060552 and it's done, floors, cab mounts, inner & outer rockers replaced on both sides of the truck |

And now the little blue S-10 gets to go on the single bay side of the garage for some upgrades before drag racing starts up again next year (my 14 year old son's truck)
Attachment 2060553 My stuff will sorta sit until we get the new rear end & rear suspension in his S10 along with some wiring and other details we need to do. Then I'll probably get to the white step side for a bit and get it road ready for spring. Might start another thread for that one |
