Re: 20" Truck Rally Wheels
Definately looking into the rallys right now. I really like the idea of the steelie though. If the market is there and enough people are on board for a buy in I might be able to do a stock "steelie" wheel as well.

Re: 20" Truck Rally Wheels
I think I speak for everyone when I say: I can't wait to see a mockup/protype pic of these things! :wop:
 Just kiddin' man. I know these things take time and $ |

Me too man. Me too.

Re: 20" Truck Rally Wheels
We'll be waiting. You think there's enough of a market yet?

Re: 20" Truck Rally Wheels
The MOQ (minimum order quantity) is ALOT. Thate why others who have tried this have stopped short of completion. There is alot of money involved in making molds to press centers, jigs to weld the wheels in, etc... The biggest hurdle is the minimum order quantity. I am not going to order 1000 wheels in 8" wide and same in 10" wide if there isnt a LARGE response for them. Then you have some people want a 8" wide wheel with 5" backspace and some want 5.25, 5.75, etc... Gets expensive quick. I think what we might have to do is build them in one backspace for the 8s and one for the 10s. Something that will "work" for most people. Probably a 5" or 5.25" bs for the 20x8 and a 5.5" or 6" b.s. for the 20x10. That way you can run a spacer to push them out if needed. You cant tuck them in further if the wheel you have doesnt have enough backspacing. Your guys thoughts? Would like to hear more opinions on finish, etc.

Re: 20" Truck Rally Wheels
Thats why you really need to be selling to companies that are going to buy a few hundred each. What happens is people try to do it themselfs and say sell the first 100 sets at $850 then your money gets tight and you have to dump the rest at cost and the first people whom buy them is now really upset. Not saying you would do that but I would try to think about every aspect of it.

Re: 20" Truck Rally Wheels
If I won the lottery I would buy 100 sets for the 100 trucks I would buy. Then I would have to buy 100 pb dropmembers...wow, I better win big because that just got costly! Sorry off subject, I would buy 1 set for sure

Re: 20" Truck Rally Wheels
What sized holes are you talking, and how many? I like the larger (and less) holes in the 6-bolt wheels over the smaller 5-bolt.
|
Re: 20" Truck Rally Wheels
I'm not sure I understand, sorry. These should replicate the 71-87 truck rallys in a 20" diameter.
|
Re: 20" Truck Rally Wheels
I think there is a market, but you're going to have to keep them around $1k or less to move them. Trim rings are a must. The rally wheels just don't look right without them. I think selling 100 sets in the current market is going to be rough.

Re: 20" Truck Rally Wheels
I personally don't think a centerline smoothie looks much like a steelie with a center cap. I've seen people add center caps to the smoothie but that's a fairly involved mod for many to tackle and still doesn't look like a stock steelie.
6" steelies aren't that expensive but are getting there....most went to scrap a long time ago...but have you looked for 7 or 8"? They sell for good money for a 15" steel wheel.... now picture a 20x8 and 20x10 steelie....deep dish in the back...nice lip in the front. That'd be sweet :D |

Probably the reason they've never been made is price and quantity required to make a profit or even break even... |

You are correct. Making them and being able to make a profit is the issue. I agree, However, I would pay $1000 for a set of 20" rallys IF that was the look I was after. Heres a pic (Not My Picture) for reference.

Re: 20" Truck Rally Wheels
Would totally be interested if they looked like that!
|
Re: 20" Truck Rally Wheels
i agree that a 20 inch rally would be cooler than most of the cheaper 20 inch aftermarket wheels so i would think they could be in that price range. i wish you luck and all the guys wanting them. hopefully you'll be able to get this project rolling. i guess i'll keep my lil 15 inchers as i like the way they look with a big fat tire thats cheap enough to be able to leave plenty of rubber on the road on them but someday if you ever get these made i might be able to get some.
