What do you guys think about suiciding the rear doors on my crew cab? If i do it i want to reverse the door handles like the old 60s lincolns. Has anyone seen someone do this and how hard is it?

I think it would look sweet with the handles at the front of the doors. If im thinking right all i would have to do is swithch the door handles from side to side.

I read on another forum that the latch will contact the glass so you still need to run a shaved door setup and use the handles as dummies.

That is the way to go. No sense messing with the linkages and stuff, Just attach them like normal (in the new spot of course) and have the poppers & electric release. That would be cool, just one more little thing most people would never even notice.

Definately go for it. It's really not that difiicult to do and the end result is worth it. I am suiciding the rear doors on my buddies '01 crew cab now.

Well here is the latest update. I am having severe problems with wheels clearing either the tie rod end or the lowere a-arm or both. I have ground the piss out of the a-arm as much as i feel comfortable with and i still cant get wheels to clear. I have had 15in american dark centereds with 1/2 in spacers and no clearence. 16inch polished americans with 1/2in spacer no clearence and right now it has 17in polished americans with a 1/2 in spacer and still no clearence on the lower a-arm when i turn. I think it is pissed for taking 20s off lol. But here is the front end hieght. Might have to come up just a little when i get the back done. Not in a big hurry until i can find wheels to fit. Anyone else had this problem and Will tubular lower arms fix this problem?

Re: Buildin my 88 Crew Cab long bed AKA STRETCH!

Tubulars may help some but I think the outside profile will be close to what the stockers are so I wouldn't expect much relief there. Just bolt up a set of 22's and call it a day:lol:

Lol Im planning on 18s and 20s. I would do 20s and 22s if i could turn with it being hammered. I have to have my **** low.

What would be super cool is to use the factory handles, and install a switch on the factory thumb button to actuate an electric popper.

Weird I was thinking the same thing. You know like the back up poppers you place under the truck just in case your battery dies in the remote. why not make the door handle the electric back-up popper xD

I can't tell what those rims are... but Coy has having a free shipping on their C-57s till the end of the month.

Just put bags in the front. The brackets bolt right in... you could even drive it as a static drop until you hook up valves and compressors.

What caused your clearance issue? May I missed that...
