Re: checking interest for factory brush guards
Guys be patient, this has been a real mess. all the legals has been a absolute nightmare, there is still a active patent and copywright from the original manufacturer. and they are not budging. If I make a copy of the original they want there slice of the pie (and its a BIG slice) So i have been working on building one that is close to these originals without stepping on anyones toes. I have 2 that are very nice but there are differences that I can build. now just getting into the new, bigger shop and trying to finish up my C/30 wrecker, not to mention all of the Dr. visits and medical issues. to make a long story longer, it's just taken me A LOT longer to get this going than I first thought. anyone that has posted on this thread will be contacted when I get things going. thanks for the support Coop

Re: checking interest for factory brush guards
How many different kinds were offered for our trucks?

They were not updated to match the rising hoodline of the 69-72 trucks. Also there were many different styles of aftermarket units available as well. Check my earlier posts for some pictures of the factory guards on various years. |
Re: checking interest for factory brush guards
Any updates on these?

Re: checking interest for factory brush guards
I'd like to have a factory grill guard: I am fearful I'll hit a deer or a dog and trash my plastic 1972 grill!
|
Re: checking interest for factory brush guards
I am interested if this project is still alive.
|
Re: checking interest for factory brush guards
I like them for the nostalgic look, I remember most all trucks having one of these when I was young, maybe it's a farm country thing but to me they make the truck.

Im sure all the legal BS has killed this project but looking for more info on this grill.
It looks more correct for 69-72 trucks as it looks taller than the "OE" shorter one. Anyone have any more pics of this style? Thanks |

Funny you are the only person to catch that I know of. Actually its the much later CUCV military grill guard. Might be able to backfit it to a 69-72 without too much trouble.

Re: checking interest for factory brush guards
The one in the pic I attached is different than a CUCV guard (which I have on my 73 Jimmy).
If you notice the 4 bolt mounting point is different as is the angle from the center point back. On the CUCV guard it is basically straight all the way across until it hits the light cutouts and then only angles back a bit. The one in the pic is straight only in the center section and then curves back from there to match the profile of the 69-72 grill profile |

I saw this pic and it stated that they thought it was an old ranch hand unit.
Looks like it has the earlier profile and similar mounting points as the one I posted earlier but with the expanded metal in the center. Anyone have better pics of the early ranch hand guard? |
Re: checking interest for factory brush guards
OK, You clipped the picture from a three year old post of mine. I was under the impression it was a modified CUVC grille guard.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...68&postcount=5 Since you alread have one you might work from that for a 69-72 unit that fits taller than the factory offering yet still looks "factory". A few cuts hould have that angled to fit very nicely. |
Re: checking interest for factory brush guards
I don't think I want one but I applaud the efforts going into making these .
I hope you follow through as I know there are a dedicated few who'd buy them ~ were I still a Farmer or if I had a 4X4 , I'd be first in line . |
Re: checking interest for factory brush guards
Did you ever start making the brush guards?

Here's the one I recently installed on mine--it's a bolt-together and slightly different in terms of the center section configuration. Darn sturdy once it's all tightened up that's for sure.

Re: checking interest for factory brush guards
It's too bad this project died off.......after expressing my initial interest (2013 post) I hit a black bear with my car in 2015! My car was OK, me having spotted the bear just in time, but it increased my desire for a grill guard for the truck.
I bought one from a board member in 2013 but there are only so many of the originals available. |

I bought it from a member off this site a few years back.

The OP hasn't been on the board since 12/12/16 so I doubt you'll get an answer. Also he is no longer a Premium member (name not in Blue) so he can't sell stuff on here unless he re-subscribes..... LockDoc |
