I know, It is funny how it actually looks more correct then the original. I hope to make some more good forward progress on the truck over the summer but just been to busy with other stuff.

No real progress on the truck but picked up my NOS right front 1 ton fender that was bought off of Ebay. Also picked a used left front fender to add to the collection. Got to stop by and talk to Joe (Joesjunk) and see his amazing collection of very nice trucks and spare parts. Missed a rust free windshield frame at the swap meet. It sold for $10.00. I could not believe that it happened. I offered to double the buyers money but the buyer would not sell it to me.

Well I spent an extended long weekend in MI working on my 46 and hanging out with some great freinds. My buddy and I done several items but we did test fit the front end with the fenders that I had picked up and got the rear fenders adjusted so while it looked like a truck we pushed it outside and checked things out at a distance to make sure the tires fit the fender opening correctly. It was nice to see it look like a truck. We also test fit a couple wheel and tires to check the clearance and got the drivers door together enough to open. We placed the seat in it and I can strech my legs out and have to stretch to reach the firewall. Great weekend.

Thanks but the work is a group effort with some great buddies. The stretch cab was the idea of my buddy that is doing the body work and he is making it work. I love the look and the room. It is going to be a great truck but just taking a while to get there. Thanks

Re: todd68chevy

I just realized that I have not updated this in quit a while and I guess I did not post any updates the last trip to work on the truck. I will see if I can find some pictures. I am always looking for parts and found an ad the other day for a 46 one ton and it has the running boards on it that I have been looking for so I went to check it out thinking I could part out the rest after removing some parts that I need. Brought the truck home and found that it is so complete and pretty decent shape so I hate to part out a rare truck so now I do not know what I am going to do. Thought about getting it running so I can drive it until this truck gets finished up. Who know where I will end up.

Here are a couple pictures from the last time I worked on the truck. We cut down a S10 bench seat and worked more on the floor and bracing it for the larger door opening. Shoved it outside to sand blast some more where the floor is being worked on.

Here are a few pictures of cutting down the S10 seat and building the seat mounting brackets. Of course it is not done but pretty close.

It was also decided that the bolt together bottom floor will not be strong enough for the stretched cab so we cut out some of the floor and added a metal frame work that strengthened up the floor a lot. There will be no flex in the cab and that will help the doors fit and close properly.

The last picture is the rocker panel that no longer fits the wider door opening and will need stretched the same way as the doors and the cab by putting 2 rockers together to get the proper length.

I like your new 1 ton! Good to see progress on the stretch cab truck. How did you make the transmission tunnel?

Thanks, I have a buddy that is a good metal guy and I am just his helper. LOL I have learned a lot during this project and would have never tried a lot of this without help and coaching from a few great friends.

We used 18 gauge metal on all the flat area and then used 20 gauge on the tunnel. We made a pattern with poster board and got it close Then transferred that to aluminum sheet and after getting it bent and fitted we transferred the measurements to the metal. Cut it and hand bent the tunnel over a torch tank and then finished it off by hand. The rear drive shaft tube, we used the torch tank caps. It was the closest sizes that we could find to what we needed.

Thanks. It has turned in to a very long term project. My work schedule has changed and I do not have the time to work on it like I wish I could. I really want to see it done also!

This is actually the 3rd floor board set up. We built one before deciding to stretch the cab. Then that one would not fit and started a new one but changed ideas and ended up with this and very happy how it turned out.

On day 2 we started getting the new steering column mounted. Had to disassemble to install the lower mount and then cut the fire wall to get the shift lever through the steering column hole. Set the dash, brake pedal and narrowed seat in it to get the pedal location figured out. Got the gas pedal mount built and decided that the upper steering column mount and gas pedal needs to be cleaned up to look better so I am going to look into column drops and see what I can find that I like. So many things with this project have changed along the way. Everything for the better but just taking longer to get done.

Well this project is slow going with a lot of modifying and body work involved that I can not do so I had the brilliant idea to pick up another project to hopefully throw together as a beater/ driver so I can have something to cruise in till this one is done. I started a thread on it and hope to be more active on it in the near future. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=736359
