All original also has a much higher resale value from what i've seen. Definately keep it original!!! |
The 67s, with no side markers, are the best paint platform since they can carry a theme or even just a color from front to rear with less interuption than other year models. The sloping hood helps carry flames, etc. to the rear since it has no harsh bend in front. For 2wds, the "sloped" hood models look sleek lowered. Hence their popularity among customizers.
Lowered "vertical" hood later models seem boxey, though not in a detracting way. Just less stylish lines. For 4x4s, the vertical hood complements the strength theme inherent in a 4x4. The small back window 67s are supposed to be popular as make-out trucks due to the privacy gained. (Give 'em up, old married men :D). Most every other style consideration is pure personal preference. |
I REALLY like orange 72 Chev SWB trucks, but am fixing up a LWB Gold '70 GMC..go figure..

71-72, Disc brakes, big rear window, loads of other options, (72) shoulder belts, on glass mirror etc.

I'd have to say, 67-68, then 69-70, then 71-72 as far as looks. I do like the options of the later ones, though. I only like the 67-68's with the grille painted to match the body though, I can't stand them when they're white.

I read an article about the man that designed the 67 truck. They are considered one of the most beautiful and "carlike" truck chevrolet ever made. True story, the guy who designed them was interviewed by some magazine recently, and HE said that chevrolet wasn't too fond of the 67-68 nose because of it's "softness." Chevrolet then asked him to redesign the front end to look more "agressive." Thats why the 69 had the blunt hood and wide, flat grill. It looked more "agressive." Makes me wonder....I'm also a big fan of the 99-02 silverados, I think they are a beautiful truck, like the 67's....maybe thats why they kept the cab and bed and went to that funky square front end.....is this a modern day 68 to 69 "agressive" look????

Go figure. |
When I was searching for a truck I really didn't care if it was Chev or a GMC let alone what year. All I knew was I wanted it too be a 4x4 and be in good shape. With that said tho I guess you could say I now favour the '69-'70 Chev's...go figure?
So IMO, '69-'70 Chev's '69-'70 GMC's '71-'72 Chev's (tho truely these are prolly most popular with good reasons I confess) '67-'68 Chev's '67-'68 GMC's '71-'72 GMC's |
Even though mine are 71s (GMC and Chev) I like any of the 67 - 72s. Have a slight bias towards those big blocks though.
