Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build
Well I finally got to do alittle today, Hadn't really planned on it but got out there and pulled the bed off so I can start on the the cab corners..

Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build
Nice to see you were able to pull the bed! Nice tow hitch by the way.
|
Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build
Thanks T.J. I was surprised that me and my son was able to pull it without any help.. it still has most of the wood in the bed but P.O. had put 3/16 metal plate over the wood, which made it heavier. This is not going to be a show truck just something that looks good, so I'll prolly leave that metal in there and do the spray in bed liner so If I need to haul anything I can and won't be afraid of messing the pretty wood floor up.. I may have to replace the front panel though..$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ did I say $$$$$$$$$$ even though I'm doing the work it still cost's $$$$$$$$$....but I'm not going to worry one piece at a time.. but it does cost me a dime..

Randy just take your time. It's just one of the time consuming pieces of the restoration process. Now that i thank about it, isn't everything lol.

Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build
I may have found me a 292 with 40,000 miles. Locally, I talked to the gentlemen this evening and he said that he was wondering what he was gonna do with it, He said he has another one but doesn't know much about it, He's gonna come by on Thursday and hear the ole 307 run and just might do some trading on both engines. I'm kinda EXCITED.....

Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build
Hey Tj I like that setup on your 292, I bet that elect.ign. and 4 barrel woke that 292 up.
Thanks Mud.Man.rj. There's a lot of nice build's on here... |
Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build
I posted this in the engine drivetrain area but hardly no one visits there. I have some picture of my Intake It's cast iron with 2 sets of holes 1 for quadrajet, the other might be Holley don't know.. Can someone check these out for me it seem to be a Hi-rise not sure.

Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build
found out it was for marine, that's why there's black paint under the orange. Found one on ebay used for 300.00 it is hi-rise.
|
Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build
Yep, factory hi rise, made to work with a bi metal spring style choke and a Gm carb, actually two types both Gm though. Would need a spacer plate to add a holley or Eddy. Good in it's day but still not great compared to today's alum intakes. Fairly rare piece for a restored car or truck.

Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build
Thanks Yea I'm getting ready to pull the engine and repaint and hopefully work on the firewall and paint it... Thinking about going green with the engine. with old script Chevrolet valve covers, get rid of them chrome ones......
|
Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build
Have seen green before on an engine, if set up right can look good, maybe black script. Chrome is long gone now, took my chrome covers off too.
|
Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build
yea along time ago my brother acquired a marine engine and it was green, had cast aluminum finned oil pan and cast aluminum finned valve covers, I ran those finned valve covers on mine car for a while they were painted Chevy orange and had to install a pvc in one of them....
|
Re: Randy & Jakes 64 4x4 SLOW build
Randy--thats an over the counter hp manifold that gm sold. not only for marine use but for some racing app's that had to have a cast-iron manifold. I would keep it.
