what?

you said it or you have 3/4t axles for it.

the truck does nto have 3/4t axles in the pic.

a 3/4t d44 is exactly the same axle shafts as a 1/2t, there is absolutely no gain in swaping in a front 3/4t other than matching wheel patterns.

and if you flip the little arms down and put a load on it you are going to bend your axles.

those little arms are going to keep the suspension from squating but are going to do absolutely nothing for axle wrap which is the real parts buster.

That holley Hi-rise intake will be a million times better than that stock intake. The 283 heads are most likely power pack heads (they have two triangles cast in the side of them ^^) or a set of "doublehump" heads which have two humps cast in the side of them.

EDIT****
So what kind of car is that other 327 in?

or the powerpack heads can have a single triangle cast in them like in his picture

Re: 1980 chevy long bed!

The other 327 is in my dads 1 ton gmc haytruck he bought when he was 18(hes 50 now) and its been sitting since he was 20-30. So Its gonna take some work. Im pretty sure there power pack heads..

chlsnk- The holley high rise comes with a edelbrock 600 carb... All for only 150 dollars.

Re: 1980 chevy long bed!

So chlsnk are you telling me they are good heads cause gage told me they arent worth working on and to buy new ones. I think Im beleiving gage. No ofenense.

Re: 1980 chevy long bed!

Powerpack heads dont flow worth a s*** and are pretty much worthless except for mabey a nostalgia hotrodder. The double hump heads flow pretty decent for being a stock head but you would be much better off finding a set of vortec heads which flow 10x better than the double humps.
Double humps also dont have any acc holes soo you are limited there too.

I'm going to run a set of double humps for now because I have a set in amazing condition with 2.02/1.6 valves and all Im going to do it clean up some of the casting burrs and throw a set of roller tip rockers on them. These heads will flow much better than the smog 305 heads i'm running now.

If I were you I'd save up for a set of good aftermarket heads.

Slap a set of 1.5/1.6 roller rockers on these edelbrock heads http://www.summitracing.com/parts/EDL-5073/ and you could really unleash that 327 for about $1000 thats a killer deal!

Re: 1980 chevy long bed!

lol yeah I looked at these same heads the other day.. Dam 1000 dollars.. Thats more than I paid for the truckk..

Re: 1980 chevy long bed!

Yeeahhh... And I need money though. Like I said Gage I need to go search the salvage yard for treasures.. Maybe today.. Im lazy though.

Re: 1980 chevy long bed!

Check the local yards and swap meets for some real nice deals on parts. Heck check the Parts board on the board.

Looks like a fun project, and my vote would be for gunmetal grey!

With trucks you gotta pay to play.

jgh64pkup 12-23-2009 08:57 PM

Re: 1980 chevy long bed!
