Looks like yours is coming along nicely. I got too wrapped up in what I was doing and forgot to say hi. Kinda dropped the ball on that one.

This is the 79: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=426385

The Blazer is up next.

Got the kick panels, cab corners and other misc holes welded up. Also got the seat frame painted. Moving along at a decent pace. Hoping to have the cab ready for paint within two weeks but we'll see.

I'll try to get some pics tomorrow.

Hey nice project! I was just wondering where did you get those hubcaps for your rims In the photos on the first page?

Thank you! The hubcaps came with the truck. They arent perfect but I'm sure you know they are hard to find. BTW I see your from Yakima... I flew out there 3-4 years ago for a month and installed the new fire alarm system in Yakima Regional Hospital.

Have hit ths thing as hard as I can for a couple hours per night and like always I've found more work I wasn't planning on doing but it's moving fairly smoothly.

I am going to do vinyl kick panels so I seam sealed them after welding in. They don't need to be perfect but I didn't just slap them in either.

Chassis saver coating on seat frame

Passenger side a-pillar was damaged (pushed in) about 1/2" so I had to re-box it in.

After removing 3 lbs of lead this is what I found ( At this point I had to take the night off and figure out how to repair it since I am new and have never done this kind of work before)

Finally clicked in my brain today and gained the confidence to give it a try and I am very happy with the outcome

Notice the straight angle from the top to the cowl! I am very pleased to have straightened this all back out!

For you guys that are afraid to jump in and try cutting/replacing metal DONT BE!! I use a small Lincoln SP100 with 75% argon/ 25% co2 and found this to be a ton of fun! These old trucks have thick metal and as long as you tack weld the pieces and don't get the metal too hot you'll be surprised what you can do.

Some of you guys have been trying to find the factory hubcaps like mine. Here's a link to a site I found with them.

Bed and rear fenders are at the paintshop. I went with 2010 Ford Kona blue. It is a shade lighter than indiglo. I wanted to know the truck was blue at night with headlights on it and not look black.

I also got the rear of the cab, drivers door and the front cowl area ready for primer. It's really coming along and I plan on having the cab in primer and ready for paint by this coming weekend.

^^^ Thanks Ryan, I am very anxious as well! It's hard for me to even imagine what the truck looked like before I started on it.

Very cool project man. What size wheels are those on the truck?

N2BOOST 02-06-2011 10:12 AM

Re: PROJECT: 1950 Chevy 3/4T 4x4... new member

Thank you! The wheels are factory chevy 9.75Wx16.5 which came on the camper specials and are real hard to find.

Are you getting anxious to see a blue truck yet? Then you'll have to step back and ask yourself if this truck is really the same one.

Yes I am! Due to bad weather around here I'm sure the bodyshop will push it back a bit. On the other hand I did work on the cab about 20 hrs this weekend and have it 80% ready to primer and block!

Re: PROJECT: 1950 Chevy 3/4T 4x4... new member

A little update... I havent felt good all weekend but I did however spend the entire weekend straightening the roof of the cab, seam sealing and cleaning up the shop. Tomorrow evening I will finish shaping the dash to smoothly transist to the tilt steering column then try to get 2 coats of primer on so I can block it Tuesday. The painter is going to install the new tailgate and paint the bed this week (I hope) and I'm planning on getting the cab, front fenders and hood painted within a couple weeks. After I get it painted I'm going to make some diamondplate steel running boards that will replicate the original running boards. I wanted something a little beefier than the originals and I cannot find a nice new set for a longbed.
