Now you know that steering wheel does not fit the theme of my truck. So just stop it. Whats the rush man, why are you rushing me? You can never say anything nice and leave it at that can you? With friends like you, man you know the rest.

1998 Dodge Intrepid Seats I like them because of the low back and they do not stick up through the rear window.
I wanted them to screw right into the floor so I made some bracing out of 3/16 metal and welded that to the floor with bolts.

I then had to modify the mount from this to this.

Here are a couple of shot of the seats installed.

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build

I spent the rest of the day working on the flip hood. Since I pancaked the hood the kit does not fit right. I had to shorten all the bracing in the front. It would work fine with the regular hinges but I want the flip so for every action there is a reaction and I will get it done somehow. If my wife is nice, I guess I will spent the bulk of my weekend working on it. But anyway here are some pics.

The smooth steps came out gr8. That hood and the flip kit look good, you didn't let me get any pictures with the hood open when I was over today. That's ok I'll be by tomorrow, LOL.

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build

I really like the fit of the seats. You are 100% right about not having the seat stick out above the window. I've seen big window trucks with Cadillac seats in them, and it looks like the builder used a sofa instead of a seat. Yuk.

The steps turned out great, too. I'm beginning to wonder if there's any part of that truck that hasn't been massaged. With the rest of the mods you have done, the steps will blend in nicely. I'm guessing that you're going to smooth the tailgate as well?

How well did the shifter fit? There aren't too many options on classy looking shifters, and the Lokar is probably the nicest one of the bunch. I'm figuring that I'll be doing the Lokar shifter thing, too.

I know what you mean about getting the hood to fit. Once you cut the inner bracing out of it, it becomes so flexible that it almost seems like you can bend it in half. The previous owner louvered mine and didn't get the skin welded back on correctly, so I'll have to make some structural mods to stiffen it all back up.

nice build and I wish I had your metal working skills, nice work. we have some of the same ideas. my 50 has the same drivetrain and seats and I also am going to do a reverse flip hood.

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build

Thanks for all the compliment guys.

BC Toy chest,
The next time the dog will attack.

Chevyrestoguy,
The seat sticking up through the back window is a real pet peeve of mine. The shifter fit great with zero modifications and I'm not use to that it made me feel like I cheated.lol Yeah the tailgate will be smooth also. Actually I'm making my own.

50adrod,
You have a very nice truck I just finished checking it out again today and it looks great. Yeah we are doing a lot of the same things I also have those engine covers.lol

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build

Those Intrepid seats look like a great fit. I agree with the seat being not visible in the back window. Those seats that stick up look wrong. You've mounted them nice and low. How is it for leg room when you sit in it? Us guys with the small back window can probably mount them a bit higher.

Its very comfortable when I sit in the truck, but I'm only 5' 7" .lol With no gas tank in the cab they have room to slide back.

I got it on ebay from autoaccessories4u4less, but you can find them pretty much anywhere. I talked to Cal58GMC because I wanted to know the height of his (I like how it looks in his truck) and bought the same one. Its 12 inch shifter.
