Re: 65 GTO "Got Goat?"

When I see cars like this and look at cars of today I just wonder what the heck happened to style and design. Love the early GTO's

Nice work! I'm a big fan of the '60s Pontiacs. I owned a '65 GTO Code K (Reef Turquoise) 389/M-21/3.90 Posi years ago, and also had a '65 LeMans Code W (Bluemist Slate) 326/Powerglide. Both were great driving cars.

I'm looking forward to seeing this one come together!

the body is ready for primer but we decided to hold off on spraying it till we had other pieces ready so we have been getting the fenders, hood, deck lid, etc... ready then we can shoot them all at the same time

sorry I missed posting the pics of the fenders and other parts blasted and ready for primer etc... :dohh: just rushing I guess  so fast forward... now its in final stages before paint :uhmk: now we just need to decide on colors... the ones I had chosen we just can't agree on... any suggestions? whats popular now? I know I want 2 tone for sure and we are painting everything (bumpers, trim, etc...) to modernize it shoot me some ideas k

my original colors were these:

-Silver White on top
-Custom Orange on bottom
-Black pinstripe to separate the 2 colors

but color schemes change so I am shooting for ideas....

This is just opinion, so take it for what it is worth. I think if you paint all of the trim, it is going to get lost. My '65 was white on white, and that is still my favorite on these cars. I may be a little biased, but I think a clean white pearl (think Lexus or similar, not the muddy GM three stage) with a white interior would be trick. It would be a little modernized, but still somewhat timeless. If you remember the late 80's and early 90's, monochrome was the in thing. There were a ton of cars that had all of the trim painted with the "heartbeat" graphics and all. It was everywhere. 20 years later, it is super dated. A clean '65 GTO still looks good almost 50 years on. Also, not sure where you were planning on breaking the 2 tone ( I am guessing at the upper body line), but try it in photoshop or something similar first. Looking at the orange/black/silver, I would do the black on top, orange on the bottom (and load the orange with pearl and flop adjuster), and break it with something brighter than silver, like purple (my first choice) or yellow.

Once again, just my opinion, so take it for what it is worth.

This is the input I am looking for keep it coming I appreciate all the input thanks very much.
