Re: Rods 57
Thanks Kim, I saw it in a magazine from 02 and i kept it around for the idea. Every time I look at the bed you built it makes me want to start cutting up what i have, the tilt on the rear is just right.

So I bolted the fender on the truck, bolted the inner fender to it and made sure all of the bolts were dead center in the holes. Took a 1" role of blue tape and laid a strip from the bolt hole past the damage and let it lay down the side. Did the same to the patch fender as well. Here they are after the two were bolted together on the truck.

Here are the after shots. I started on the inside and used 10 of those clamps in the before shot. after each tack I re-tightened them and checked with a straight edge to make sure it was lined up.

Re: Rods 57
Anyway, thanks for the encouragement, it really helps to keep you going when you find a problem and you want to quit it seems like someone on here has already seen it and fixed it, and has two ways to do it better next time.

So here is my update from last weekend, I put the first coat of epoxy primer on it. I am pretty happy with how the black and red are looking. Whats your opinions on red interior and black exterior?

I like the Red and Black idea a lot! I've considered it for mine many times!
That's a pretty big hole for the steering column mount, what are your plans for it? Here's a couple of pic's I have saved for inspiration. |
Re: Rods 57
I think the red and black would look great.

Re: Rods 57
That is exactly what I am talking about! thanks for the pictures.

Re: Rods 57
The hole for the steering is because its a GMC cab. I have the male end of it hooked to the column already. i plan on using some polished allen head bolts to dress it up.

Re: Rods 57
You are doing a GREAT job! I can't believe that I've missed this thread. I have to laugh when you initially that you were kind of embarrassed to post pictures of your work! You do extremely nice work, so don't feel embarrassed at all. Proud is more like it. The fender turned out amazing. Most guys would have thrown that fender in the trash, but you saved yours.
I like the red/black combo. With the steelies and whitewalls, that truck will look awesome. |
Re: Rods 57
I second what Chevyrestroguy said. You are doing a great job buddy.
