First, let me say I'm not a bored member chiming in, but...
You will have to explain to me the "wasting brakes" you referenced. But for the record, I'm not a fan of anything over 20" rim either.

I knew a Mail Man (Postal Carrier) in Dallas that commented to me once about the consistency in the houses he delivered welfare checks and government payment checks to, were usually the houses with all the hooptee rims (as he called them) on the cars sitting in the driveway. He would say "I wonder how many government checks it took to buy those rims?". It made him so mad.

As for the Rallye (Rally) Wheel. I love them on these trucks. I find the easiest way to locate a 15x7 (maybe its a 15x6.5) is when you go to these salvage yards that won't let you go find what you need, it to ask for a steel rim for a early 80's Chevy/GMC Van.
Also, Didn't the 6 lug 15 x 7 rim only come on the mid-70's 4x4 Blazers?

I realize that this is an older thread but have an instance concerning factory chevy rally wheels on an '85 suburban . A fellow on a FB page claims that the suburban he had came factory with 15 x 10 rally wheels. I commented that as far as I knew GM never offered a factory 10 inch wide rim on any pickup or suburban and that I'd like to see them . Of course they were sold with the suburban years ago. I would love to have a set of 10 wide rallies but aftermarket or custom are all I've ever found . I am waiting for a response on weather they were 5 or 6 lug wheels .

Am I correct in my thinking ?

He just responded that they were 6 lug . I've never heard of 10" wide factory 6 lug rallies .

They sure look right. I had a 72 Malibu with them. Best looking wheel you can put on a Chevelle, IMO. I sold the car and the first thing the guy did is replace the wheels with cheap chrome. To each their own.

I was on the fence ((e.g., Corvette Rally), but my 71 SWB will have 73 truck Rally's, and the option for the stainless steel variety cap on original wheels. By luck both sets were free, and the NOS caps came cheap.

I am with you. I doubt it. I have OE rims that are 10 inch wide rims but they were widen after they left the factory.

I have a 88 Survivor with factory 2wd 5-5 bolt Truck rallys love them

I was a tire shop manager for 35 years . remember the 15x6 15x7 and 15x8 "rally" is measured bead to bead not edge to edge . :)

I had lots of customers come in from swap meets, wanting me to mount their "new to them' 15x8'S . which were just 15x7"s .

I have been looking at 15x10 and 15x8 Corvette style in the 5-5 for my Suburban but with under 50,000 miles on it, I think I will keep it all original and put new tires on the factory 15x8 rims . (which measure 9 inches bead to bead) .

I remember back in the eighties it was $35 a wheel to get your rally wheels widen to 10" at Willamette Wheel. They would do 12" too but that cost more. I still have several pairs of 10" Rally II's.

I'm a big fan of the Rally wheels, we just put a set on our 70 C10 after we powder coated them Matte Black

reminds me of trying to mount tires on wide rims .

before we had "blasters"

I spent a whole afternoon trying to put 215-15 Michelins on 15x7's .

I got them on... that was in 1969 . :lol:
