Re: Project 30 years sitting
Got the tires on it, looks like a 4x4 now.
Went to run it off the new tank/electric pump tonight. Blew out the carb gaskets. The inline regulator was suppose to be pre-set at 7psi, but somehow got up to 10-12'ish and sprayed fuel everywhere. |
Re: Project 30 years sitting
Full exhaust done
2nd fuel regulator on, and its not the right one, but it runs on a correct fuel tank vent lines routed and breathers mounted for axles waisted 3hrs in the middle of the day for work, ugh |

In this first image. Can someone tell me the name of this part?
2nd image is all thats left of my exhaust build. I would say I designed it fairly well. |

Re: Project 30 years sitting
Is that the top of the door window frame? If it is there is a plastic piece that goes there to close off the cut end of the window frame.
|
Re: Project 30 years sitting
Thats where the "a"post joins with the removable top. I have the plastic thing on both doors. But this metal thing, I only have it on the pass side.
|
Re: Project 30 years sitting
I think that was part of the original seal set for the top where it meets the door glass. I think the new ones are made differently and if needed, the metal part should come with the new seals.
|
Re: Project 30 years sitting
huh, ok. New seals are on my next lmc order.

Re: Project 30 years sitting
original goal met after a few setbacks.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJCg6...ature=youtu.be Needs ball joints bad as its all over the road. Needs carb tuned and I have no clue how to do that. |

Re: Project 30 years sitting
fixed, sorry

Re: Project 30 years sitting
Congratulations! Getting it to move under its own power is always a plus. Sounds pretty good, if a bit doggie. Didn't sound like much with carb issues though. Might just need more advance on the timing. I like how the exhaust sounds.

Still working on it running right issues. We can get it to idle and rev great in park. But you put it in gear and put a load on it, and it just bogs down n stalls.
But I did drive it around the neighborhood in the snow/ice since you dont need to go fast anyway. Lots of looks, smiles, and waves  Ordered the bolts and spacers for a body lift. Wow that was expensive :cuss: Still need to order the new mounts. |
Re: Project 30 years sitting
Sounds like a vacuum leak. Check the hoses and connections, also the brake booster and around carb and manifold. You guys have more snow than we do, but I bet its warmer.
|
Re: Project 30 years sitting
When we first started it, we slowly connected things checking vac. As we have added, nothing changed.
|
Re: Project 30 years sitting
Got a vac gauge? It changes with timing also, or if a valve is out of adjustment. Same symptoms I had with my jimmy. I had to adjust the valves to get the vacuum back.
|
Re: Project 30 years sitting
Yea, we have had a gauge on it while adding all the stuff. I installed an incab one so I can monitor while driving.
|
Re: Project 30 years sitting
Sounds like you have that covered then. Good luck with the rest of the tuning. I've got a carb rebuild kit sitting on my air filter right now so when the day comes I can actually take it for a drive I'll have it ready.

Re: Project 30 years sitting
junkyard score!!
dash speaker grate dash speaker speaker bracket headlight switch dual horn setup... only got one horn as I have one already and didnt have tool to grab the second. tow hooks that can easily be modded and installed. |
Re: Project 30 years sitting
Adjusted timing up to 20deg. Runs 1000x better. Now to fix this brake light thats stuck on in the dash. Bad prop valve?
