Years ago I bought my oldest daughter a 78 MGB. I dreaded working on it at first, but actually, that thing had to be the easiest vehicle to work on I've ever seen. |
Re: Found my Great-Grandfathers 1959 GMC Apache
I went out there and tried to get it running once, the turn signal wires started burning.I gave up on it after awhile

Re: Found my Great-Grandfathers 1959 GMC Apache
Also someone with a 58-59 show me how I can keep the Tailgate at Level height.I'm just so happy with this truck. It needs a NEW left Pillar, Step on the Cap, Headboard.Fender bottoms, Bottoms of doors,Lower door skins.Fixing around the Windows.Around the headlight holders

Re: Found my Great-Grandfathers 1959 GMC Apache
Can someone estimate how much it'll cost for a Wood bed and all the other things. The trucks.Nothing is there. It all rusted away, it'll need a new Headboard.I'm trying to figure out how much it'll cost for the Rust repair of the (1) Step & Rockers. The Headlight area.I believe the Kicker panels rusted partially out.I'm hoping its not going to be Outrageously pricey for everything..The inside of the cab is rusty.I believe small pieces of sheet metal will fix everything, and around the windows

Re: Found my Great-Grandfathers 1959 GMC Apache
Unless you are doing your work yourself it will be Outrageously Pricey for Everthing. Shop rates run from 30 to 60 an hour not including parts, if you dont have a welder to patch panel install. It is cheaper to buy a good mig welder like Miller, Hobart or Lincoln and do the work yourself. As far as headboard are you talking roof panel? If you dont know how to weld try taking a course at local trade school or community college on body work, my neighbor's son did and got real good at body repair. Good Luck

Re: Found my Great-Grandfathers 1959 GMC Apache

Re: Found my Great-Grandfathers 1959 GMC Apache
Thanks Coral, greatly appreciated
I'll have to save up to, $2,000 to get the Bed and other things fixed, and another $1,000 for paint=$3,000 Total (Estimated) I wish I could figure out if mine came with the GMC Deluxe Heater, its bothering me, I don't think it did because all it has is the Knob I have all the Glass, except for the Windshield it broke years ago..The back Glass is in perfect original condition I wish I could figure out, what the original Color for the dash and the inside of the cab was, I believe the Original Color for the doors were Gray, due to the Gray Hinge Panel's, I wish there was some way that I could restore it faster. ARGHH it will take forever |
Re: Found my Great-Grandfathers 1959 GMC Apache
I'd say that the whole truck was the green color that is left on the tailgate if it is the original as you stated earlier.
|
Re: Found my Great-Grandfathers 1959 GMC Apache
Well I know it was that green, Im just talking about the interior
|
Re: Found my Great-Grandfathers 1959 GMC Apache
Hey buddy, why don't you go to the LMC web site and download their catalog? If you do you can see detailed pictures of your truck and dream about all the parts your going to have to buy. I did it and use it a lot when I'm working on my S10 and my 64. Also if I was buying bed parts I would buy Mark K products in my OP better quality products and not much higher in price. Remember get it running- make it safe to drive and take your time fixing it up 1 project at a time.

Here's the stock colors for a Chevy TF & GMC TF
Grey through out the cab and a textured black on the dash top. |
Re: Found my Great-Grandfathers 1959 GMC Apache
Glen, Is it really true that the texture & gray were used all four years of the TF trucks? My Dad's '59 longbed Fleetside had it but I'm wondering if the '55='57'sall did? How about Cameos?

Re: Found my Great-Grandfathers 1959 GMC Apache
The Doors were Gray..The glove box was gray on the inside, but I was told the dash was Green like the outside?.My steering wheel is white
There is a factory Hole where the "GMC Deluxe Heater" Goes, but as far as I know there wasn't one in the truck because like I said there was nothing there but a Knob where the Deluxe controls would go If the doors were Gray, Door panels white. The inside of the Glove Box is grayish could that mean the dash was green |
Re: Found my Great-Grandfathers 1959 GMC Apache
Where is the Firewall Cowl Tag Located, I think the kid threw it away or something I have not seen it on the truck
|
Re: Found my Great-Grandfathers 1959 GMC Apache
On chevy trucks there is no firewall cowl tag, the vin plate is inside driverside door and should match vin on frame by steering box and also marked below cab on top of frame.

Re: Found my Great-Grandfathers 1959 GMC Apache
Did you mean GMC?

Re: Found my Great-Grandfathers 1959 GMC Apache
Does anyone know what color the Headlight bezels would be on a Chrome packaged truck.I don't think they could of been Chrome, because they're very light

Here is a photo of it during the sandblast session. If the Outside was that Green color, I don't think the Top was white but it looks like it, and the old Door hinge Covers were Grayish, does that mean the Dash is Gray too??..Can someone please answer my Question!!!, it is literally driving me mad..I also have a Hole where a GMC DELUXE HEATER would go, but as far as I know it didn't come with one
