Re: RnD Fabrication 1967-1972 Chevrolet & GMC early C10 / C20 / Blazer Radiators!
Will be calling you to discuss a radiator for my 72 C10. Now that all the local autohouse replacement radiators, at least in my neck of the woods, have plastic tanks I will be going custom after market. I know the plastic tanked rads will work fine but just can't get my head around seeing that in my old truck.
Assuming your radiators utilize the stock 4 core mounts and cushions, have the trans cooling line fittings on the right hand side, have the heater core return fitting in the right hand end and can be plugged if not used. I'll ask these questions when I call to order. Lee |
Re: RnD Fabrication 1967-1972 Chevrolet & GMC early C10 / C20 / Blazer Radiators!
We look forward to it. We build ours to fit the 4 core mounts, but use the 3-core cushions (that way they'll fit both the 3 and 4 core setup's). We can put the trans cooler on the passenger side (we only put it on the driver side for LS conversions). For the heater core fitting, we can add that (most people don't request it, but its easy to add).

Can you provide more info on the dual fans? Size, CFM rating, and current draw? How noisy are they when running?
|
Re: RnD Fabrication 1967-1972 Chevrolet & GMC early C10 / C20 / Blazer Radiators!
Sure. Our dual 12's pull a combined approx 2,900cfm, are 12v and draw around 11amps. They are not very noisy at all.

The cushions most people told me they used were sourced from summit or from other vendors here. We will look into the accessory package, as that may be a viable solution.

Not to take this the wrong way or question your work cause it looks outstanding, and american made, but is anyone running one of these yet? Just looking for any feedback. I'm running a mild 402 in my 67 and will soon be in need of a cooling system. Don't like the price tag on be cool and skeptical on champion radiator this seems like a good alternative. I am wanting to run electric fans but not wanting real loud and something reliable with long life. Nice product and glad to see you as board vendor

No offense taken, there are at least 30-40 guys on here that have bought our radiators.

Sparky, I have a 454 BBC bored .040 over. Mild cam, etc. puts out 500 ft lbs 475 hp. Currently running dual electric flex lite fans pulling 4300 cfm at 12 amps.
Temperature runs 210* consistently with the hot weather. With just a radiator swap from a new 4 core to yours, what if any temp drop might I expect? |
Re: RnD Fabrication 1967-1972 Chevrolet & GMC early C10 / C20 / Blazer Radiators!
I would think you should see at least a 10-15 degree difference assuming the fans really pull what they are rated for.

Received my radiator, impressed with the quality and workmanship. I'll report back when I install it this fall. Do you recommend and additive along with prestone and distilled water like redline, lucas, or.....?
|
Re: RnD Fabrication 1967-1972 Chevrolet & GMC early C10 / C20 / Blazer Radiators!
While you can run those additives, it isn't necessary in most cases. Just a good antifreeze mixed with distilled water is what we recommend.
