Re: turbo task force
Got the front bumper mounted up as well as the latches on the tailgate (used the LMC hidden ones that go on the inside of the bed). Still need to figure out what im going to do with the tail lights, i have had no luck finding the bezels that retain the lenses in the housings. any ideas?
http://i878.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps1f73abf7.jpg Well im back at work for another 8 weeks, cant wait to get back and get a tune worked out on this thing and see how it performs. |
Re: turbo task force
still out of town for work, doeskin mean i have to stop buying parts.....found these little gems on ebay, boy are they hard to find, luckily they came with the little reflectors, just need lenses, gaskets and bulbs.

Truck is looking good. We should have coffee one of these days.

Re: turbo task force
your truck looks awesome! low much drop does it have?
|
Re: turbo task force
IIRC 4" drop springs in the rear and a 2.5" drop spindle in the front with a 1" drop spring. May lower the front down even further. Depending how these springs settle in.

Re: turbo task force
started tuning on it, but my R&R is over and back to work for another 8 weeks. just a few bugs to work out (leaky accumulator seal and noisy P/S pump) but nothing major yet. Got a paint match for the bed as well, hopefully can shoot that once i am home again. Bum deal about Alaska is that winter lasts a grueling 7-8 months, and that's coming up shortly. Oh well it makes great garage art!

Great build!
Any updates? |

relocated coils, smoothed valve covers, painted with wrinkle black, and tidying up various things under the hood. I did convert all the gauges to also put LED, made a huge difference. Installed the deluxe cab trim on as well! (ill add some pics later) its dead winter here and a balmy -40 Fahrenheit/Celsius today. thinking about march or april ill paint the bed and start getting excited for dry pavement. |
Re: turbo task force
I have been messing with it for the past week, trying to prep the bed for paint. Im not sure who painted the inside of the bed before me but it was terrible, like a metallic purple (must've been a 70's thing).
Ordered a new blower motor and vent cables for the fresh air vents (old ones were broken). Got them partially installed. I test shot the paint that was color matched (used a preval sprayer) Figured i could knock out where we shaved the gas filler. It turned out great; going to let it cure and knock down the gloss, hardest part was the prep. Also shot the top of the DS fender. Bought a 33 gallon compressor for my garage and will shoot the bed with a regular paint gun, need to block it out first. BTW sorry my pictures suck, my iphone camera is crap (broke my newer phone and had to use the backup) http://i878.photobucket.com/albums/a...psmgockbln.jpg http://i878.photobucket.com/albums/a...psnn7kecvz.jpg shaved valve covers, grounded down the coil pack nubs and filled with epoxy, coated with wrinkle black: http://i878.photobucket.com/albums/a...pste8axdsi.jpg |

Re: turbo task force
thanks guys, I have been block sanding out the bed and getting it ready for paint, just waiting on the sheetmetal shop to bend up my steel cameo tailgate cover. I had to head out of town for a couple weeks of work, but once i get home ill be ready to shoot the paint and distress it.
I am still undecided on a grill idea, since i have the FMIC i'm limited on space. Ive been eyeballing the carriage works billet grill since it sits flush with outer lip of the grille opening, but the 300 dollar price tag is a bit high. Contemplating making my own: http://www.s10forum.com/forum/f270/m...eandip-466765/ |
Re: turbo task force
Just read your build. Very cool good job!!

Re: turbo task force
So i finally painted the bed, not the best experience so far. Confirmed that i shouldn't be painting anything unless it involves a roller or a brush. :) But its one color and has been distressed a bit to show a red oxide primer underneath. Installed a horn and rear license plate light, but need to finish up the grill. Also we started tuning over the weekend, using Justune out of Missouri.
The other truck is my dads 58 Napco that ive been driving. http://i878.photobucket.com/albums/a...psewhdjkjx.jpg http://i878.photobucket.com/albums/a...psx6m1oa5w.jpg http://i878.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps8wp3u2uz.jpg http://i878.photobucket.com/albums/a...pswkriiqq2.jpg |
Re: turbo task force
Cool pics.
The first one makes it look like a die cast model. Kim |
Re: turbo task force
thanks Kim.
So the bed paint was appearing a shade off from the original patina as well as being dull since and it was really bugging me. I grabbed some rubbing compound and wax and buffed a decent shine in it, which also helped darken it up. Ill post some pics later when i grab the truck. Also going to see what i can do about a grille. I scratched the billet idea because it makes it impossible to release the hood latch and will just go with 3 horizontal bars of some metal conduit. |
