Re: Carolina K10, 1979 Reg cab short bed.
Austin, call me on the house/cell phone on the aluminum polishing. I can help on that end. Or just bring it down w/you and use the high speed polisher I have. Will save your fingers and elbows a lot of work.

Laid some peel and seal from lowes down on the trans mound. Because of the floor (or lack there of) I kept it to just that and didnt add it anywhere else. Might add some under the seat tomorrow. Plan on putting the rest of the interior back in tomorrow. Replaced the master cylinder today also so hopefully that takes care off my brake problem. TC cover painted and cleared, 2qts of oil added, small stuff. All that needs to be done now is a new battery/vacuum modulator on the trans and she'll be on the road again. |

Nice truck! I'm kind of partial to the Tangier Orange, just because it is different. I haven't seen many around in that color. Keep plugging away at it!

Painted the cover silver. Going to match the transmission when it comes out. As for the np203 I'll most likely paint that black.
Also polished the aluminum trim pieces... i think they came out nice. |
Re: Carolina K10, 1979 Reg cab short bed.
Paint the tow hooks silver. They'll look good just like the cover. It's fun to mess with these old trucks isn't it.

Got the interior back in and new battery put in. Scored this for $39 bucks just need to figure out how to secure it. Most likely I'll end up putting it in my Dad's Mazda and swapping that one in here.
Got the cover on, of course within 5 minutes it had oil running down it... |

Of course it rained 2 inches here yesterday so I got off work and tested the boggers out. If feels like the carb is having a tough time at certain points but I never got stuck.
The only casualty was a piece of trim. |
Re: Carolina K10, 1979 Reg cab short bed.
Ahhhh don't just love the rain....Man we got hit with a bunch too. Truck is coming along nicely.

Ouch....watch it Austin. That trim gets harder to find and will only get harder to find NOS or OEM as it gets older.

Re: Carolina K10, 1979 Reg cab short bed.
Man it did some local flooding here too. Mostly low line areas. I bet you guys got right much too. You know it's funny but my uncle took the trim off my truck years ago and I've never found it again. I looked high and low. Most of it is there but still it's a royal pain to find it in decent shape.

Re: Carolina K10, 1979 Reg cab short bed.
Lesson well learned. Pulling the trim off until I make it a pavement pounder. Plus it's missing the bed trim so it'll look better Imo with a bunch of holes rather than missing trim.

So the TH350 didn't want to shift in reverse this morning so I pulled the pan to see what was going on.
Of course the blue truck is at the shop right now so this one just had to mess up also. I take it as a sign I need more truck's.:metal: |
Re: Carolina K10, 1979 Reg cab short bed.
But in all seriousness I threw it back together and I'm going to drive it until the Z is back. Then I'll wheel it one more time, wash it, pull the tranny, and rebuild it. Reverse takes like 1-3 seconds to go into gear.
