You would have to find a 67-68 hood to make it fit properly, or you could modify that one to work but imo the 67-68 hood would make it look real nice

I would love to know how everybody achieves these high mpg's! I have owned a FEW 5.3 trucks and a 4.8 truck and always avg 13-14 mpg. Maybe 16-17 on all highway. Maybe I drive faster..
All the cummins guys claim 20+ mpg and I have had 2 24 valve 5.9's and a 6.7 cummins and even though the display shows 17mpg, on paper it always came out to 12-13 mpg.

OP, Big power+fuel efficient= LS. No doubt the LS based engines will beat the sbc in every aspect.

Nope, they aren't telling the truth or they just wish they got all of that fantastic mileage....16-17 on the highway is about right. My 2007 5.3 powered Silverado gets 16-17 all day on the freeway much less around town. Never higher. But, then, it has the aerodynamic characteristics of a small building just like every other pickemup truck..

You can get good fuel mileage and be able to make big horsepower, you won't be able to get good fuel mileage while making big horsepower.

Small(ish) cu.in. well prepared motor + turbocharger(s) + EFI + reasonable gear ratios can get you the ability to make big horsepower and get good fuel mileage.

Since your hood is in the rear of your vehicle, maybe you should consider an old school VW bug engine. :haha:

I was told one time, "...It's like trying to push a brick through plastic wrap".

I think this thread might be the ultimate pi**ing match:lol:. When you combine HP numbers, and MPG's into one thread, its destined to be good. But, you start throwing in who has the most beautiful wife or daughter, and it becomes legendary!

Nitrous? Turbo?
I have a 5.3 turbo 500 hp to the rear wheels with a T56, bout as close as you are going to get. I can push 18ish.
I guess I can work on the tune and maybe squeeze anther one out of it but it is tough.
