Cut part of the floor pan out. Need a flat floor for my wise guys seat. Reinforced the floor with square tube. Use 18G sheet metal.

Starting to mock up cab. Seat fits nicely wise guys did a good job. Ididit steering column is nice quality. Went with a swivel ball floor mount. Moved it a couple inches left. Lokar eliminator gas peda and emergency brake. Slow progress but moving the in the right direction.

Subscribed to this build - progress is looking good!

Oh, those are 2 beautiful CFL's in the background!

After following your CFL builds, this truck will certainly deliver too!

Thanks bro! I'm a bike guy at heart but need a cool truck. Best way to get what you want is to build it so here we are...
Seat and seat belts are in. Time to move the seat out of the garage and down to the house. Next time the seat goes into the truck it will be for final assembly.

Wise guys leather seat. They make seats specifically for AD trucks.

Re: 1949 Chevy 3100 Build Thread

Thanks guys I am happy with the seat. My only complaint is that I had to cut out the seat riser and recessed part of the old floor to make it fit. The seat is the perfect fit for an AD but the seat tracks need a flat floor. That's a bunch of work for something that's advertised as a direct fit.

I received and installed my seat belts from seat belt planet. Made in USA which is a major plus. I welded nuts to the washers and spot welded them to the cab floor. The smaller washer in pic is for center seat belt which will hardly if ever be used.

Had to play around with lap belt portion of 3 point. The seat riser ended up being the best place to mount it.

Re: 1949 Chevy 3100 Build Thread

I decided to go with a firewall mounted brake booster. If anyone needs a frame mounted cpp kit I have mine on eBay and will sell cheap to a forum member. It's for disk/drum. Retails for 300 I'll take 200 shipped. I found a firewall mounted bracket for a 54 from performance online. False advertising! It's a universal bracket and doesn't "triangulate to steering column mount holes" as advertised. What a pain! I ended up exchanging it for a 47-53 which would be a great bracket for those years. It's way overbuilt. Problem is the dash is different in a 54 and the steering column mount holes in dash are positioned 3 inches forward so slice and dice time. The reason I decided to modify is because the firewall mounting position was the same and the brake lever is the correct length. Just need to make it "triangulate" to dash.

The brake booster needs a flat surface so I removed the ribs and reinforced the cab side of the firewall with 18GA. Drilled a 2-1/4 hole. If someone could recommend a good booster for 4 wheel Wilwood disk brakes I would appreciate it. Not sure if I should run 7 or 8 inch single or dual diaphragm? Will be going with Wilwood master and proportioning valve.

Got the booster bracket done. Like I said, the performance online part for 1947-53 trucks is a really well built part. Here is what it looked like after I made it fit a 54.

I'm trying to keep the dash as clean as possible. using trique vents and vintage air 4 knob. The radio goes in the glove box. Not sure about speakers yet. The original spot only has room for one 5x7.

Cab mockup is almost done. Mini vintage air unit behind the glove box. Vintage air glove box (good piece) is made of plastic and houses my receiver. Very basic sound system mounted 2 4" pioneer speakers in the original location. Raingear wiper system fits. 4 knob vintage air controller where old radio was. just a couple small things then everything goes back in boxes.

Got the doors mounted. 49 doors on 54 cab. The pax side slid right into place. The driver side was a bear. Took 1/2 day of adjustments to get it right. Next project is doors. Getting the altman door latches installed. Door locks and window mechanisms working. I figure it would be best to get the doors functional before paint so they don't get beat up. Should I get rubber installed before I do the door latches? Want everything to fit and heard seals can be problematic.

Changed direction just slightly on powerplant. Decided the LS1 is gonna go in my 71 Camaro (next project). Bought a used 5.3 out of a low mile 2000 Silverado. Spent too much time cleaning it. It was filthy! Bought GM performance parts muscle car oil pan and found a stripped bolt on the rear engine/crank cover. Replaced rear cover. Comp cams 212/218 low lift cam. Ls6 blue valve springs. Hooker block huggers. This engine will give me more low end torque than the LS1. Also will fill the engine bay nicer in my opinion with the truck intake.
