So yes,

My BAW Chinese part in a AC Delco box is genuine.......Nice, response below from GM fraud department. I sent them pics of the part. So, I don't blame RockAuto on this at all.....

"Thank you for your patience. Our product specialists have reviewed the information you provided. Based on the images of the part and packaging you shared with us, all the information suggests the part is genuine.

Thank you, and best regards".

So its official, AC Delco sells Chinese junk as their own parts. These are sad times.

If the new ones fail it's time for steel braided lines.

Rockauto, Amazon, local parts stores, etc. I usually get the Centric part number from Rockauto listings and then research the best price I can get.

I have never purchased from rock auto, but I am parts manager at a gm dealership and can give a little insight on the acdelco parts. About 5 years ago gm was getting out priced by aftermarket parts, so they came up with a great idea to offer different line's of acdelco parts to be competitive. The oem acdelco line which is the best, the professional line which is ok (I do sell a lot of parts in this line), and then they have the advantage line which is the lowest priced stuff you can get. The only parts I sell in the Advantage line are brake rotors because they are competitive with the aftermarket. The rest of the Advantage line I will not sell, it is almost a guarantee the it will come back.

So to the OP if you purchased the Acdelco advantage hose's. I will bet that they are the correct hose's.

wow I use mail order from jegs summit and lmc when i am sure of part. If im not sure then I take old part to local auto parts store its easier to return.

So I think this works both ways. We have been talking about cheap parts in an AC Delco box, but I just had the opposite issue. It seems to be working in my favor.

So I planned on rebuilding my front steering and suspension with all MOOG parts as I have had very good experiences with that brand in the past. Got through suspension and most of the steering before funds started to run low. So to keep the project moving and save a few bucks, I decided to go with some AutoZombie DuraCrap tie rod ends for now and would upgrade them later when the whole truck was finished and funds were more liquid.

First shocker was the box says it's "Made in USA"?
Second shocker was the tire rod itself. Stamped "Federal Mogul Steering"?

This was a pleasant surprise; that its was not SunSong China junk I expected.
I did a little Google search with the part number and it comes up under other brands like Summit, MasterPro (O'Reilly), Proformer Chassis (NAPA). I'm also getting the same part number at the MOOG site but the picture looks like its stamped "MOOG Problem Solver"?
http://www.moog-suspension-parts.com/moog-es409rt

Further research yields that Federal Mogul seems to own MOOG!
http://www.fmmotorparts.com/fmstoref...SD/brands/moog

Yea ME!! So it seems I got the same quality I wanted but saved some cash. Total savings around $45!!! Winning!!

So I will probably keep these unless something goes terribly wrong.

Rock Auto prices are very good. But, as mentioned above, just wait until you try to return something.

They also advertise parts as "Moog", for example, but then add "Private Label" to the description. So who knows if that part in box labeled "SRT" is really made by Moog? Nowhere on the box or the part does it list the country of origin.

And beware their "Wholesaler Closeout" deals. I did get a nice USA-made master cylinder in a beat-up dusty box for a crazy low price, but then also got an alternator belt that was hard as a rock. It must have been sitting on a shelf for 20 yrs. I think what they do is sell old inventory that distributors took back from parts stores that went out of business. And no way would another parts store accept it. So enter Rock Auto!

409R and 409L have been Moog P/Ns since at least the 1980s. ES and T probably signify some kind of changes over the years. Most of the other so-called "manufacturers" just use Moog's P/Ns, sometime with additional letters or numbers. I hope all the importers of Chinese junk see a huge increase in import duties. To heck with this "It's a world economy" BS.

Re: Rock Auto WARNING

Just had a horrible experience with RockAuto.com and learned my lesson. Bought all new Moog Problem Solver suspension parts. Went to install and found they had:

1. Shipped the wrong parts
2. Shipped knock offs inside Moog boxes
3. Shipped "used" parts

When I tried calling their customer service I was hung up on. When I processed the return online they made me jump though a bunch of hoops to get the things back to them.

I called Moog and learned that RockAuto IS NOT an authorized retailer and does not directly buy their inventory from Moog. instead RockAuto buys out other retailers and their inventory and then resells it as new.

Very bad experience.

Bought some Raybestos brake hoses and, yep, you guessed it, Sunsong.

Also got some AC Delco and Delphi parts stamped China. I just returned them. Not paying a premium for that.

Re: Rock Auto WARNING

Not long ago i went thru a “country of origin” dilemma of my own. I wanted to rebuild my HEI distributor and wanted all BW Select parts. I went to O’Reillys and had them pull several versions of each part # out/down so I could pick my own. I used all USA, Israel or Portugal made components (in that order) and rejected the China, Tawain and Singapore made components. There is a big difference in quality of craftsmanship (on average here people-I know a few bad ones can get thru) between various countries of origin.
