Pic #1. Drivers side inner rocker was badly rotted so it gets cut out, the black is rust encapsulator The "A" pillar was also rotted and is fixed along with this.
Pic #2. The new piece I made to replace the bad. Pic #3. Fitting the new piece, this will end up having a large hole drilled in it for a drain plug. Pic #4. The final repair. Till next time Mark. |

Re: Barger's 79 FJ40
Looks good in primer.
Now on to the painter and then to the building stage? Or am I going too fast here? |
Re: Barger's 79 FJ40
To be honest kees I'll let you guys vote.
The build is already complete and went home, so I have All the ammo I need to show as much as you would like to see. That being said...would you rather move forward (bypass to paint)and assembly or more primer detail? Let me know Mark |
Re: Barger's 79 FJ40
I am good with whatever you share...and paint then assembly is always exciting. Shiny new stuff!

Here are some shots of the rear doors and the rot that needed my attention.
Pics 1-5 I wont go into detail (don't need to explain with these) Mark |
Re: Barger's 79 FJ40
Nice! That edge had to have been difficult to weld. Did you back it with copper?
|
Re: Barger's 79 FJ40
No I didnt, It welded pretty good actually.
Was time consuming though. |

Update:
Unfortunately while I was transferring pictures from one phone to another I lost 2000 pics! So I wont be able to show all the things I wanted. Here are the start of paint (none during)That being said I really wanted to show all the shots from under the body as I sprayed the undercoat. I call the color swamp water/baby poo brown  Pic 1. Backside of front fender Pic 2. Topside just after painting. Pic 3. During wetsanding Pic 4&5 After polishing. |

Pic 1. Here is the way I get panels prepped during wetsanding.
I use fineline tape on all the edges to protect them from burning through. Pic 2-3 after wetsanding and polish Mark |
Re: Barger's 79 FJ40

Some orange pinstripes would also be nice |
