I'm new over here but I just bought my grandpa's truck back and it is a 1964 GMC long bed step side with a v6. I don't know if this is rare but I haven't seen to many.

66' C20 Custom Camper with the heavy duty power brakes by Bendix, same as used on big truck. It is mounted on inner fender. Have only seen a few.

Could you order the C20 Custom Camper option and a big back window?

These are taken out of the 1960 "Approved" GMC Accessories Catalog.

I have the Compass, Locking gas Cap, Reflector Flairs. I would really like to find a fuse/flag case. Someone mentioned the sliding rear window - that was an option as well.

There is a difference between "options" and "accessories", though.

Quick question for everyone. I have a 1966 C20 with the original 327 engine (YH - 327 with 3-speed Automatic Transmission). My build sheet confirms this, and also has the Transmission code as CT. I can't find any reference to this transmission code. Were all 3-speed Auto transmissions for 1966 C20's 400s?

BTW....I don't have the original tranny, just interested in what the original build was.

Thx

Killer Bee, Are you talking about SMS in Oregon? I once requested the original fabric sample for my 65 from that company. They told me they had the exact match. They even sent me a sample of a piece of NOS fabric. I sent them a deposit. 6 months later I finally received my material, only 3 months late. When I opened the package I found I was sent some reproduced material. And in my opinion it wasn't even close. It took me three months to get my money back, after I sent the fabric back. And only then because I threatened a law suit. Who runs a business like that?

Yes , CT is the TH400 transmission code that's specific to truck. Theres a tag on the side of the trans case with this info stamped along with the date.

the one and only.. and apparently the only game left in the country according to about 50 phone calls I made..

all started in Jan '16 and finally ended yesterday..

requested samples by model year, received A,B,C, recognizing the difference, attached sample from seat and sent back..

https://dl.dropbox.com/s/t5dthciwtgw...%20sm.jpg?dl=0

received an EXACT match sample! smiles all around the upholstery shop, this is going to be good!

https://dl.dropbox.com/s/wrsuv2nzne5...%20sm.jpg?dl=0

then proceeded to receive everything under the sun BUT the matched sample..

https://dl.dropbox.com/s/bjbzgady4r1...%20sm.jpg?dl=0

over, over, and over again..

https://dl.dropbox.com/s/mq4nuprbmnc...%20sm.jpg?dl=0

https://dl.dropbox.com/s/1vw81edysaq...%20sm.jpg?dl=0

so after many, many phone calls, hours of listening to lies and excuses, finally got to talk to Doug himself.. felt like I was in the twilight zone, he was flabbergasted that I wasn't happy with the materials he was making and just couldn't understand my dissatisfaction.. as if he had never sent me the EXACT match of my fabric over a year earlier that I repeatedly requested..

so then he finally admits he has it, after insulting me for not accepting his new fabrics that everyone else claims is fantastic.. and sends me a bunch of faded remnants.. more calls and finally received his hold out stash..

indeed, who else runs a business like this? hopefully no one I ever encounter again for the rest of my life.. that company is deceptive and dishonest to say the least.. I'll keep my feelings about him personally to myself but suffice it to say, they're not family friendly..

Re: Rarest Option

Thanks for sharing your sad dealings about SMS. My story dealing with him is a rather lengthy one as is yours. You get that from people like him, and his company. I happen to have been in the trim business for many years doing what I would consider high end European cars. So I know a few things about fabric. He is definitely the worst I have dealt with. Many many years ago the jobbers in this country had hundreds of bolts of this vintage material squirreled away for there customers. As years past and the requests got fewer, They decide to sell there vintage fabric to either SMS or the place in Michigan. The fabric was sold for a somewhere around a $1.00 per yard. Now it's moved on to the customer for about $98.00 a yard. I'll probably continue my rant on this subject over on the rants and raves thread, as where it should be. Now that you have brought back these bad memories. One more thing. From the looks of your pictures you had a pretty nice job done at the upholstery shop. Are you happy with their work?

Re: Rarest Option

thanks for sharing, at least I'm not alone.. yes, I'm happy with the shop's work, just imperfect enough to know it was made by humans and not teenage robots in china.. $400 fabric, $450 foam, repairs and shop labor was more than fair for me considering all the trouble they went through with sms.. it was a total reconstruction, spring repairs, frame and springs painted, all new foam, cotton, and materials.. he even saved an acorn from the squirrel stash, guess it wasn't only mice living in there lol..

just glad and relieved it's all behind me and a tough lesson learned..

sample of the mouse damage, ewww, yuck!
