The next morning two guys were back early to use a concrete saw to score the pad. Quick work and nice even lines.....

haha ...nothing like 6 loads of concrete...makes it hard to breath when you get the bill.....I didn't know yall had crawdads that far north...I thought they was a southern critter...
I just formed up a pad today for a buddy of mine for a patio...24x24...[same guy that's letting me build Columbus in his shop]..thankfully we only need 9yrds of concrete...were gonna pour it next week if the weather cooperates...

This concrete is kid approved! They’ve been having a blast riding around on it....like their own indoor race track.

We are caught up with the work that has taken place so far. Next steps are to get my builder’s crew in to do some construction and electrical work. And hope for some drier weather so they can do the work outside around the building too.

Thanks for tagging along so far.

Thanks Mike, yeah, I think they were keeping the wire pulled up. Sure hope so anyway!

It does Greg. We do have crawdads here, though we are as far south as St. Louis. It is sure good to have buddies to help out...good luck with the pour.

Very cold spring here as winter won’t let go. Usually by now we are mushroom hunting.

Ha...this was this past Monday. Boys had a blast. So did Gran’pa.

So the guys got started on the wainscoting metal today. When I had this installed 20 years ago gaps were left around the concrete post pilings.

They removed the existing metal. This was the side where the posts were corroding.

The new metal is cut close around the concrete pilings, placed in J channel and sealed. This, coupled with proper grading, should greatly reduce water intrusion down low and eliminate pipe corrosion.

Hopefully they will finish this soon, then move on to electrical and door framing work.

Yep! It looks more finished.

They were able to install the new metal on the North side, West side is done and East side is stripped off. If it doesn’t rain they should finish this up tomorrow.

The builder asked if I could go pick the metal up. Shoot yeah, this was my first chance to make use of the new trailer.

Thanks Mike! Yeah, the winch on the trailer is removable....I was too lazy to unplug it, unpin it and lift from the receiver. Once the shop work is done, it will be stored inside. A box to protect it would be a good idea...hmm.

Thanks Richard!

So the builder finished with the lower metal around the building and started the framing in for the roll up door. They were aggravated as the best 2x12’s they could get for the header were bowing...like they could be used for a ship.

So while the guys were wrestling with curved wood, I took a run down to Tennessee and picked up an 87 swb from a member.

Man, there were heavy headwinds going down and the dually consumed fuel at a high rate, though otherwise performed flawlessly. And the trailer was smooth towing.

Great guy, awesome to talk trucks and I had to head back home too soon.

I’ve seen those orange trucks here too. Rusty too. Ok, it will probably be awhile before much happens with Putnam. Gonna license and drive for now.

Door openings are framed in for the roll up doors.

Found out today it will take two weeks for the doors to show. So, the builder will leave the old doors in place until the new ones are installed.
