finished up disassembling the dash.
The top of the dash was painted a dark colour from the factory. Its kind of hard to tell what the exact colour is as its got some staining and surface rust, maybe a dark grey? Although Im building a patina truck with very little paint disturbance. I think I might paint the interior. Just feels better and its easier to keep clean. Besides shes pretty scratched up from 50 years on the farm. Also spent one time with one all purpose windex and a wet rag on the firewall. Trying not to scrub the chalk marks off, looks pretty damn good so far. |

Started disassembling the frame to send off for sandblasting and paint. Had the trailing arms stitched up for some added strength.

Picked up another piece of the puzzle today. Or should I say several pieces?
This old girl had her engine removed a few years ago as part of an ill-fated engine swap. She is very complete but has rust on every panel. This truck will supply almost all the little parts I need to complete the 68. Plus some of the big ones🤣😂 |

And this is the real reason why I drove 5hrs one way to get this truck.
Over the years I have probably owned 25-30 of these trucks but Ive never had one with buddies. :metal::metal: |

Picked up my bolts today. I dropped these off for cad-plating. This was my third bucket worth, now I should have just about everything I need to assemble the truck.
Yellow cad-plated the control arm ubolts, wanted them to match the grade 8 hardware in the frame. I think they turned out cool. I started cad-plating original bolts when I was building my k/5, it was suggested to me by an old timer buddy of mine. Said he loved how much easier it made reassembly as most bolt kits suck and this way they are all spotless. I agree. |
Re: 68 GMC frame off build
Everything is looking great. I really like the quarter panels and bolts.
