Re: 1972 C20 -Airride conversion-
@CG, Thanks!
Finned valvecovers and air cleaner would look awesome, but I doubt that type of valve cover will fit.:hh: The covers that are on it now have a lip where they seal to the head, the compressor sits above this lip. The finned valvecovers don't have that as far as I know. Small update: Antenna came in. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/...39/antenna.jpg I'm scared to drive with it all the way up:lol: I mean, do they hold up in 60 mph wind? Also had a lot of problems with all sorts of debris from trees ending up inside the cab. so hopfully this trashguard will stop that from happening again. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/...CE38F868D4.jpg I've also put new window seals and fuzzies in the doors, but now my windows don't close all the way. I've read that its a common problem with repro fuzzies. But what's the fix? Do I have to take it all apart and cut the window channel lower?:m6: |
Re: 1972 C20 -Airride conversion-
update, for the one's wondering where this has been.
I've been enjoying the truck after the conversion. Didn't have any major flaws or breaks on the things i've changed. Had an e-brake actuator fail, replaced that. Got a new steering wheel, and in the meantime rebuild my steering column and steering box. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/...9/IMG_5749.jpg http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/...9/IMG_5503.jpg The air cleaner for the aircompressor fell apart a couple of times, so i decided to make a solid one from a sbc 305 air cleaner. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/...9/IMG_5698.jpg Changed the dryrotted old tyres for fresh new ones. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/...9/IMG_6086.jpg Then I decided to go on a roadtrip vacation with the truck. So, got a campershell on top, made some simple cabinets and a bed inside. Also made a roofrack on top of the campershell, for a spare tyre, spare feul, some water and a wooden crate for tools and stuff. Also figured this was a good time to change fluids and get new filters. And lastly nut and bold checked the entire truck. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/...9/IMG_5898.jpg http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/...9/IMG_6163.jpg Went on a 2400 mile trip to and trough Norway, which was an amazing experience. halfway in Denmark: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/...m/P1040356.jpg Then in Norway: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/...m/P1040511.jpg http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/...m/P1040556.jpg http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/...1040594_1_.jpg But also had some issues, nothing major. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/...m/IMG_6331.jpg Had my throttlecable come apart http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/...m/IMG_6332.jpg And the ignition points burned in, so spark was not great, to the point it really didn't want to do more than idle. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/...m/IMG_6340.jpg So took some sandpaper to the points, and ghetto replaced the cable with a universal cable and was able to easily continue the trip. |
