I thought some of the sponsors on that rig looked familiar. Then I made out the Dallas, TEX on the door of the truck. Very cool.

This is from July 1977,, I was about 6 months old but mom put this pic in my baby book. My dads 72 C20, The Blue buick (I don't know what model or year) and my childhood home on the farm I lived in from 0-18 yrs old. Incidentaly when I was in the second grade, I put 3 more dents in that tailgate with my head and got a footpeg stuck in my right calf. from a minibike accident when the throttle stuck open. Yes I was wearing a helmet and no, I don't think that is whats wrong with me.. Think, is a funny word...

I post it from time to time and just sit back and watch !!!!!!!

some of the popular debated parts are
#1 is the truck a 67 or 68 ?
#2 what is the car behind the wreck ?
#3 is the vinyl top of the 67 camaro peeled up ? or is the top buckled ?
#4 who's fault was it ?
#5 where is it ?

fun all around

http://i394.photobucket.com/albums/p...s1967truck.jpg

Truck was a 67....just like the car.
The Camaro was pushed into another vehicle by the truck although they hit at odd angles.
Top of Camaro is buckled because the front windshield is completely shattered.
It's the guy's fault in the background with the Corvette. You can read his lips: "Oh fu....."
It happened on a hwy.

Pics like this & others in this thread are of the America I fell in love with from afar as kid, I always knew that one day when I finished school I would buy me one of those cool cars that I saw in the movies, little did I know that when I would leave school they wouldn't make em like that anymore.
But I still have all those beautiful classics to choose from though.;)

I sure am enjoying all the photos you guys are sharing. Can I slip in my old '78 Silverado? That thing was a great truck (Mahoghany paint/Buckskin interior,454,posi,loaded to the gills),but I sold it to buy a '71 Blazer.

No trucks in this one. I took it around 1968 or 69, just a kid trying to be creative with the camera. My dad's '61 Impala in the driveway and the neighbor's '63 in the background.

I remember them. That was when the trash man had to get out of the truck. We also had a milkman when I was a kid. I loved it when I actually caught the milk truck. I would run out and get chocolate milk from him.

This is at the site of the original 'Widowmaker' hill in Utah. Most people are surprised to learn that there was a motocross track there and that for a time it was on the AMA World Cup tour (or whatever it was called at the time). For some reason, they got Evil Knievel to come do a promotion, and this is him, on a Harley, on a motocross track. This was in 1975, I would say.

For those of you familiar with Salt Lake, check out how much has changed in 35 years. All that open space is houses now, and where this picture was taken is now someone's living room.

On the west coast we had the "Helms Bakery truck" ( like the Good Humor Ice Cream man-both in early 50's Chevies and GMCs), a daily delivery of fresh bread, rolls and dognuts!:metal:

donuts!!!............

My old man still has those cars, I miss them more then him. I am sure his new wife will sell them before we get them.

Oh, man...I remember the Helm's truck. An early 60's Suburban panel painted yellow with blue lettering. A striped blue awning on the back over the barn doors. The driver would stop out front and open the rear doors, behind them were drawers that slid out with glass tops displaying the doughnuts, eclairs, pies and other goodness. The truck has some kind of musical horn that sounded like chimes to alert the housewives it was coming down the block.

Memories!

I still use an ash can or metal trash can for my aluminum cans. It was here at my house when I bought it in '86. It was all beat up (from trash men tossing it),so I used it for the light duty job. I have to set the lid down on the can with one hand while I hit just the right spot on the side of the can and the top pops on nice and snug.
