He's 19 now and I can't count the cars he's had, but his taste is getting better! I've always been into vw's so I guess that's why he likes them too? His current ride. Attachment 966070 I still have a few vw's too! lol |

so that is where they came up with the idea of a sideways engine for front wheel drive cars!!! I have always wondered how drunk they had to be when they thought up that idea. LOL

Very small update! I got the driver's rear bag mount done, in my head I'm always going to do more than I seam to get done! My plan after work was to get both sides done, but after almost four hours I got one side done! Drilling, cutting, trimming, fitting and welding always goes faster in my head!! I'm going to do the other side tonight!! In the mean time heres a few pics.
Cut out the lower bag plate. Attachment 967921 Frame filler. Attachment 967922 All tacked in place. Attachment 967923 |

Re: Maggie's Custom
Looking good!
I bought my son a '67 bug project for his 16th. Spent a year getting it all cleaned up and ready and he rocked it for 3 years. Love the Cal Look with the rack, Brandon's had a sweet wood rack, too. |

For those that dig vw's. Heres one of my three!
Found it in a barn (a real barn) it had been sitting 33 years! Lowered it, fixed the brakes, and got it running, than drove it 30 plus hours to St. Petersburg Fa. for a show, dropped a valve along the way but thats a long story!! Attachment 968018 Attachment 968019 Attachment 968020 |
Re: Maggie's Custom

Heres what I'm thinking for the front!
Moving the shock to the outside lower mounting point (going to reinfoce the mount) this gives the shock room to clear the brake tab and line, and move the upper mounting point the the top of the frame. Going to try and get this done tonight! Attachment 968700 Jason |
Re: Maggie's Custom
I think im gonna copy ur idea for the front. Ive been lazy and still havent put shocks on the front of mine

Re: Maggie's Custom
yes. I set it up to run a longer shock it need be. I put the shock at mid travel at ride height, but when I fully extended the shock it didn't look as if the suspension went that high. The shock has 6 1/2 inches of travel. I won't know how it works until the truck is on the road. I did the same on the front, I sent the shock and mid travel at ride height (the front shock has 5 inches of travel) I'll post pics soon!

For the upper mount I took a peice of 2x3 and cut it down until it fit the way I wanted.
